Untill I see anything from either club I'm not too sure about this. There's always someone within either club who will leak news like this, but reports up untill now seem to be based on a certain person on SKY who tend to have an over active imagination and some Spanish members of the press who are a tiny bit questionable.

I'm not too sure about Senna, not only have i not heard of him until the worldcup.. but 8mil for a 30 yr old seems a tad much. Considering we could spend a lil more and get the likes of mascerano who's both younger and better based on his performance at the worldcup. Then again having said that.. if this is a short term solution then so be it.. i rather have someone than no one!

I must admit.. i'm feeling much better about next season now despite ruud leaving and all..

If the logic is that we get a seasoned holding midfielder to groom the youngsters then this should work out well. I don't know much about Senna but I'm confident Fergie sees him as a player that can fit his tactics for the upcoming season. I was pretty excited about the prospect of Mascherano coming but let's see how Senna fits in...he's also much cheaper than Mascherano would have been so we might have ourselves a good buy at 6mil.

Can't say he particularly excites me as a signing but if he's able to do the no frills job in front of the defense like we need then I'll be happy plus if he's going to be inexpensive maybe fergies eyeing up another swoop for torres with the remaining kitty :P(presuming theres any left of course)

Yeah, maybe I should have said he doesn't excite me as a POTENTIAL signing but it does seem to have a bit more to it than just a rumour with it getting time on SSN an all, we'll just have to wait and see though.

Not that AS is all that reliable, but they mention the same thing. Apparently Villareal has also signed 25 year old midfielder Leandro Somoza from Velez Sarsfield. They report the fee for Senna being 12mil Euros.

I would be very disappointed if we were to sign Senna. It would be an indication that we are no longer able to attract or have the finacial clout to get the top world class players, such as, Mesherano, Diarra, or Gattuso. Villareal have strengthened their midfield and see Senna as a "cast-off". Have we sunk this low?

senna is better than the guy they replaced him with. They needed the money coz they're a club from a tiny town (smaller than Burnley I think) and they aren't in Europe.

He's not signed, we haven't even made a bid.

Senna though would interest me as a squad player only. Not at £10m though, for a 30 year old? No thanks! Half that and we have a deal, and I'll be happy with that but if not double it and sign Mascherano.

I'm sure Senna said following the World Cup he was only interested in staying at Villareal?

He's a Good player for villareal and could do a job at utd. I would be suprised if he was anymore than a squad player though. For 5 million or less he is probably worth a look. I don't think he would be a complete failure and he has the ability to be a success but not holding my breath :)

Who's the certain person on Sky that you're talking about? ???

I've been having a look around various Manchester United sites, during the day and this is what i've gathered...the news was released on AS and also MARCA.COM..with the Spanish media saying that Senna had already agreed personal terms.

Also Villarreal forum's are posting goodbye thread's to Senna..
