 Cristiano Ronaldo
« Thread Started on Jan 2, 2008, 4:02pm »

Real have reportedly made Ronaldo their top summer target, with Chelsea striker Didier Drogba also linked with a move to the Bernabeu, as the Spanish champions seek to underline their status as the world's most glamorous footballing power.

Hot property: Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably the world's No 1 player
The Spanish champions have attempted to sign Ronaldo before but were snubbed by the winger, who instead signed a new five-year deal with United to become the highest paid player in the club's history on £120,000 a week.

However, Real president Ramon Calderon is more optimistic this time around that a deal can be struck with United's owners, the Glazer family, who would find it hard to resist a world-record fee, particularly as they are currently finding it difficult to refinance loans due to the global credit crunch.

Real's No 1 target had originally been AC Milan playmaker Kaka, but they now feel they have more chance of luring Ronaldo to La Liga, especially after the midfielder's recent admission that he would like to play in Spain while still at his peak.

Two weeks ago, at Fifa's World Player of the Year awards in Zurich, Ronaldo said: "I'd like to play in Spain. It's a fantastic league, very attractive, where they play a beautiful game.

"It's my dream to play in Spain. Whether or not it will happen I don't know. Sometimes I want something but it's not possible.

"Only God knows what will happen in the future. I'd like to find out the difference between playing in England and Spain."

again... ???

Fergie will fight Real tooth and nail on this one. I mean he should be on at Ronnie night and day - where else is he going to find players of the quality of Tevez, Rooney, Giggs, Anderson, Scholes, Nani etc to play with. Utd have structure and a plan going forward. Real just have instability and sunshine.

Personally, i think that if Ronaldo went to Real then he would actually regress as a player. He'd be encouraged to show boat and do all his tricks - without Fergie's guiding hand he'll turn back into an individual rather than an individual talent who can play within a team pattern.

If we went by everythign these tabloids said he would have been away after the World Cup, because i remember the stories coming out of the papers, not just the sun but guardian, independent etc... That he was going on Strike to get his move to Real etc and then last January it was the same until BAM he signed a new contract.. Its Bullshit TBH! Its all to sell papers, they need a big transfer story for the month of january and looks like they are going to go with this! I gurantee if the Tevez saga hadnt of happened in the summer we would have had the same Ronaldo/Real Story but that story consumed the papers and media all summer! Put it like this if he ever did leave we adapt and get on with it, we did it when Keane left, when the King left, we will do it when Giggs goes, Scholes, Ronaldo, Rooney! But i wouldnt read anything into this story!

I'm still waiting for their record bid for Kaka as well.

Real will be linked with everyone under the sun.

Kaka will sign for them, I believe that'll happen as AC Milan are a team coming to the end and then they'll come out saying he was their first choice. ::)

Ah this again.
::)

I can't see Fergie letting him go so the only way I could see this happening is if Ronnie really wants to go in which case there is probably some buy out clause where we can make a large amount of money on the transfer. I don't think he's going this soon, in a few years maybe, but not now. If we pull a double this year then maybe he might want to go and repeat that elsewhere but otherwise I think he's staying.
