Sunderland make £7m move for Manchester United midfielder Carrick dailymail.co.uk Jul 09 2010 18:16 Sunderland are weighing up a £7million bid for Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick as he looks for a replacement for captain Lorik Cana. After last season think we should offload him? Honestly don't think so...Maybe unless we have an immediate replacement, but that doesn't look very promising...and plus in this economic climate an English international with 3PL medals and a CL medal is surely worth at least £12m? And OK lets say this is going true and we do have money to spend...who?And also I would like to know ye're opinions on selling Carrick...

Asininine mackems, fuck all chance of this. Fergie wouldnt want to sell, even if it was double the price, he knows how capable Carrick is, hell he's better than capable, dont sell Michael, not that there's a bit of danger, especially not in this case.

Yea exactly my opinion.....but if it was to happen I've been impressed by David Meyler hard tackling midfielder..old-fashioned...almost similar to Roy Keane? Maybe £10m + Meyler?

I wouldn't mind him being sold if the price was right (at least 10 mill) and if we had a quality replacement lined up. With Hargo getting injured again, leaving us possibly needing 2 CM's I can't see it happening though.

Silly silly rumor.. With Hargo's latest injury setback, there is zip chance of Carrick being sold even for the right price.. SAF is not the type of manager to dump a player based on a poor season.. Maybe Gibson for the quoted 7mil

even gibson is worth more than 7m..i doubt sunderland cud afford 7m and even if they cud i dont think carrick will go to a club like sunderland..after winnig a trophy in united evry season..beats me why they waste their time with such rumours..

That is absolutely a joke. And I must say that I'm so disappointed with some comments that approve such a joke. So silly thinking of selling him as he is the only bloke who can fill in as a DMF given that Hargo is sidelined and Scholesy can't make it week in week out. Carrick is staying put as I'm sure he will discover his form soon.

Wat we need in midfield is a playmaker..to replace the great scholsy..anderson cud b sold off to finance our move for either sneijder(dont think he will come) or Oezil (likely to come)....

Silly rumor. Even if he was leaving a offer of 7 million is just insulting.
He's going no where. If he gets his form back he will be a major player for us next season.

I never thought United had a playmaker esp in the last few years as Scholesy started to play as a central midfielder. The wingers have been the key to success, I reckon. That would change if United were going to sign Sneijder or Ozil, whom I honestly think neither would be brought in.

wat we do lack in midfield is a goal scoring midfielder..i have noticed this for many years that we doont hav midfeilders that can chip in 10-15 goals a season..like lampard for Chelsea..we need some1 in that category..i think ozil can be a good and more realistic transfer since he has said he wud prefer a move to either United or Chelsea..he has shown in this world cup..his movement and his range of passing is second to none and plus he also scores goals frm midfield..fergie sign him up asap.

We'll that's the main reason we need a creative midfielder in. We lack goals which is worrying.
None of our central midfielders can give us 10+ goals a season.
If you look at other major clubs they all have a creative player in whom creates things and also scores goals.
Example: Lampard(Chelsea), Fabergas(Arsenal), Gerrard(Liverpool),

Example: Lampard(Chelsea), Fabergas(Arsenal), Gerrard(Liverpool), Scholesy used to be for United. I'm still wondering about the reason he became a central midfielder. He was unstoppable when playing as an attacking midfielder. I still remember the last game Scholsey played in there, it was against Milan 2007. What a flicked pass it was by the little ginger to WAYNE.
