It's all irrelevent as Bill Belichick is going to sort out our defensive line on day 2 and the Pats are going Indiana baby!

Well, Detroit now have Suh and Fairley as Defensive Tackles which is pretty sensational in fairness. What is the Lions offence like Mox?

If we can get Stafford healthy and he can stay healthy (a big if, still with 2nd string QB's in his place we've faired well) i think our offence is pretty decent - Megatron, Pettigrew, a healthy Best, there are plenty of talent on offence. I was looking forward to free agency to see if we get a decent 2nd receiver but the labour strike is delaying things on that front.
Detroit's major problem is secondary so i expect we'll draft a Corner or linebacker in the 2nd.

Moxdevil, I have fuck all interest in NFL, but is there a guy who'se actual name is 'Megatron'? No, it's a WR called Cal Johnson who's got massive hands, supposedly like the Transformers. EDIT: WR means wide receiver, which is a guy who catches the ball after the quarter-back throws it.

Lions did well Mox. One of their best ever drafts by all accounts. Maybe my dismissal of them will come back to haunt me!

Cannot be bothered to create another thread for this years.
Fancied the Patriots going into the game, but yet again the Giants show that a better all-round team usually prevails.
I think everyone expected it to be tight and go to the last drive again.
Kudos to Eli; showing he's a clutch quarterback especially with the drive to take the lead.
Also, missed this as it was on MTV 2, however, trailer advert-

I didn't have you down (pun 1) for an NFL fan, Mox. I touched (pun 2) on it last night in the rugby thread. The Patriots are 'my team', but I just had a feeling we'd come unstuck against a well organised Giants team. That Jason Pierre Paul is a beast. I only learnt last night that he wasn't interested in playing American Football as he thought it was crazy and he didn't understand the rules.

Giants deserved it in fairness. They've been to Green Bay and San Fran and won. They were much the better side in the first half last night but didn't let their heads drop when they went behind.

Pats were cut down by Gronkowski's ankle injury. It reminded me of United and Rooney in the Bayern second leg a couple of seasons ago. We fought but without him to hit on a regular basis our offence came unstuck. I think the Gronk had something like 2 completions last night, which is unheard of this season. Peterson's pick was good but a fully fit Gronkowski would never have let it happen, that turned the whole thing.
That, and Wes putting down a chance he would catch 1000 times out of 1000 in any other moment. Giants were good, but the Patriots let it slip ourselves. Welker takes that, with 4 minutes left? I can't see us losing from there.
Wasn't to be, and stayed up past 3 in the pissing morning to get beaten, again, by the friggin' NY Giants! At least the Giants are my NFC team. I support the Pats, but if it had to be anyone else, I don't mind so much. New England have revolutionised the TE spot this season and we have a very strong core on both sides of the ball. If we can keep our key men and maybe add a top class D-man, I'd be confident heading into next season.

Yeah, Gronk being injured was huge in fairness. And I felt sorry for Welker, who is a fantastic player and a nice guy from any interview I've seen. He catches that in his sleep. Of all teh player to drop it!

I do like Wes, agreed that he always comes across really well in interviews and things. Felt for him as, like we've both said, he never drops one of those. Gutted.
I should mention though, that Eli Manning is a monster of a QB in final drive situations. Brady said it, sort of, himself - Eli is scary when he's within a score in the last 15 and ball in hand.

Big Detroit Lions fan since Barry Sanders. Pierre Paul is a freak of an athlete, so quick across the ground for such a big guy. Result could have been different if the Pats receivers had caught those first two passes on the last drive that you would have expected them to. The Giants made the plays and the Pats didn't. How funny was the winning touchdown - stops at the one line and then instinct kicked in and he falls over the line. Considering the Pats defensive line allowed him to go through it makes you wonder why they didn't do it with 2 mins on the clock instead of 57 secs.
