So Neil Wood, is he a good appointment? I'd never even heard of him.. Can't be worse than Sbragia I guess.. That’s a ringing endorsement.

Manchester United have confirmed the intake of first-year scholars for the club's Under-18s squad in 2019/20. As is always the case in July, the elder members of last year's group move into the Under-23s with the previous campaign's Under-16s stepping up to take their place. Head coach Neil Ryan will have a host of options for the new term and worked with the boys at a training camp in Austria, which concluded at the weekend. Two of the new faces share the same first name and are also both midfielders - Charlie Savage and Charlie Wellens. Wellens is from Salford and there is more local representation in the shape of Manchester-born Zidane Iqbal and central defender Will Fish. The other Englishmen in the group are defenders Owen Dodgson and Calen Gallagher-Allison. Goalkeeper Dermot Mee was born in Birmingham but plays for Northern Ireland at Under-17 level. Iestyn Hughes, who broke into the Under-18s side at the end of last season at full-back, hails from Wales and forward Ayodeji Sotona was born in Waterford, in the Republic of Ireland. There have been other additions from overseas - Slovakian midfielder Martin Svidersky and French forward Noam Emeran. More arrivals to the squad are due to be announced at a later date, once international clearance is received. www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/man-united-confirm-under-18-intake-for-2019-20-season?utm_campaign=ManUtd&utm_medium=post&utm_source=twitter

Wonder if Wellens is related to Ex-United Youth player Richie?
Edit:
Nevermind, he is his son.
And Savage is Robbies son.

Is it me or do we seem to be recruiting quite well at youth level?
Definitely better than recruitment at first team level anyway...

Forgot to post this the other day but Fish is one to watch at the back.
As well as Hughes.
Hopefully talent skips a generation and we get to see a Savage in the first team too!
Wellens was a solid midfielder in his day, but just not good enough for us at the time, so hopefully his boy has inherited some of his ability.

I heard that Charlie Savage is decent and could be better than his Dad...not the highest of bars buts still...

Here’s hoping...it would be nice to get a decent conveyor belt going...save some of the seasonal transfer drama and get players in the team who are not just mercenaries...

Savage wasn't good enough for United, but he was a Premier League player for 10 years, international, played in Europe. There's about 0.1% of young players starting out who'll go on to have a better career then that.

Henderson's loan spells might be a starting point to thinking he could succeed de Gea, but it won't be any time soon. I hope we can convince him he has a long term future here to give him (and us) that chance. Unfortunately for him de Gea likely isn't going anywhere soon.
