18/04/2015 13:29, Report by Ryan Michael, Adam Bostock U18s: Everton 1 Manchester United 1 Manchester United's Under-18s were denied victory in a tale of two late free-kicks as the Reds were held 1-1 at Everton, early on Saturday afternoon.
Jordan Thompson's 74th-minute opener, arguably against the balance of play, looked to have secured another three points in the play-off stages for Paul McGuinness' young men. But the Toffees, who had dominated most of the game until that point, found an equaliser with moments to spare when Antony Evans beat United goalkeeper George Dorrington from a deadball situation. There was still time for the Reds to almost regain the lead with a set-piece at the opposite end of the pitch but Devonte Redmond's strike was brilliantly saved by Mateusz Hewelt in the Everton goal to ensure honours ended even.
Hewelt's intervention provided a fitting bookend to the game, given Dorrington had made a similar save to thwart the hosts after just four minutes. If Everton could have taken the lead then, they should have done shortly before the break when Nathan Broadhead fired over the bar when clean through on goal.
The hosts continued to dominate as the second half unfolded and were perhaps unfortunate not to break the deadlock when an effort struck the woodwork. The Reds then had appeals for a penalty turned down and the game remained goalless until Thompson finished off a fine team move to put the visitors 1-0 up. Evans' late equaliser for Everton was followed by another save from Dorrington to keep the score at 1-1, and that's how it remained when Redmond too was denied at the death by some expert shot-stopping.
United: Dorrington, Borthwick-Jackson, Tuanzebe (Dunne), Fosu-Mensah; Croskery, Scott (Reid), Redmond, Thompson, Hamilton (Williams); Gribbin; Rashford. Subs not used: Byrne (GK), Rathbone.

20/04/2015 17:00, Report by Adam Marshall Van Persie, Wilson, Evans, Januzaj and Rafael named in strong United U21s squad at Leicester Robin van Persie, James Wilson, Adnan Januzaj, Rafael and Jonny Evans have all been included in the Manchester United squad for tonight's Under-21 fixture at Leicester City (kick-off 19:00 BST).
Rafael, van Persie and Januzaj were among the substitutes for Saturday's Barclays Premier League defeat to Chelsea, with the latter coming on as a 70th-minute replacement for Juan Mata. Van Persie has yet to make his comeback from the ankle injury he sustained during February's clash with Swansea City.
Louis van Gaal has maintained that his first-team stars need match rhythm after a spell on the sidelines and van Persie will hope to prove his fitness ahead of Sunday's trip to Everton. The game could also give Jonny Evans his first run-out since Newcastle away on 4 March, following his six-match suspension.
United Under-21s squad: Rafael, Jonny Evans, Robin van Persie, Adnan Januzaj, James Wilson, Tyler Blackett, Ben Amos, Andy Kellett, Joel Pereira, Liam Grimshaw, Sean Goss, Donald Love, Tom Thorpe, Joe Rothwell, James Weir, Matthew Willock, Ashley Fletcher, Sadiq El Fitouri, Josh Harrop.
The starting line-up will be confirmed on Twitter (@manutd) closer to kick-off as Warren Joyce's title-chasers look to extend the lead at the top of the Barclays Under-21 Premier League and avenge the home loss to the Foxes in early November. The match is exclusively live on MUTV and coverage starts at 18:30 BST.

Good to see Van Persie gets the same treatment as everyone else.
Van Gaal continues to impress me.

Good to see Van Persie gets the same treatment as everyone else. Van Gaal continues to impress me. Just hope he does not do a Falcao though. Play for a few minutes then gets dragged off. He need a full run too try and get his fitness/cutting edge (hopefully) back on course. Like you said though, good too see him get the same treatment as everyone else. You never know, Rooney might get a run in the U21's.

I wonder if there will be the same witch hunt in the media that Falcao got if RVP doesn't score?

James Wilson is absolute class, his movement is so instinctive it's unreal.
