10/01/2015 09:26, Report by Mark FroggattKey returns excite Louis van Gaal Louis van Gaal is confident Manchester United will discover more rhythm and consistency in the second half of the season, particularly when players such as Angel Di Maria, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo are available for selection. The Reds have been plagued by injuries this term but have still managed to impress in the Barclays Premier League, moving up to third place while enjoying an 10-match unbeaten league run that could be extended when Southampton visit Old Trafford this weekend. When speaking to reporters on Friday, van Gaal was asked if his rejuvenated squad will produce more consistent performances in the coming weeks. “I hope so because now the players are coming back and I will have a full selection of players within three weeks, I think,” the boss explained at the Aon Training Complex...........

10/01/2015 22:33, Report by Adam Marshall Van Gaal explains transfer policy Louis van Gaal insists Manchester United's moves in the market will be determined solely by the quality of his targets and not necessarily by cost or timing. The boss has drafted Victor Valdes into his squad this month as second-choice goalkeeper and was busy last summer in recruiting Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Daley Blind, Angel Di Maria, Marcos Rojo and Radamel Falcao. The shrewd Dutchman is always determined to be patient in order to land the right option and recognises there is not a long list of world-class talents currently available in the market. "When I cannot improve my selection, then I wait," he explained to reporters. "And then I maybe have to wait a year more. Maybe you think that there are so many fantastic players, but it is not like that........www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2015/Jan/louis-van-gaal-discusses-his-manchester-united-transfer-policy.aspx

He did this the last time and we signed multiple big names. He even admitted he doesn't like chatting up names to the press as it'll drive up te selling price haha

I almost think it doesn't matter anymore what positions we need to fill because LVG does not seem to fancy playing players in their preferred position. (Reacting from today's loss to Southampton, in case it's not clear). LVG left ~F A L C A O~ out of the squad so that Di Maria could play as a #10, while our best #10 (Mata) played as deep-lying midfielder so that our erstwhile #10 (Rooney) could roam. And then when the chips are down and we are desperate to equalize, LVG takes off VAN PERSIE so that MOTHERHUMPING FELLAINI can lose every goddamn aerial challenge he faced despite the tactic switching to direct long balls up to him.
So, to sum up: what difference does it make.
ADDENDUM: LVG also didn't have a recognized striker on the bench. No Wilson, no Falcao. I just read that RVP had an ankle injury and that's why he came off, but to take Di Maria out so that Fellaini can be our Crouch is absurd.

Either LVG takes a long cold look at this mess and changes or we will continue in the mire for some time. His track record is that of a stubborn man who sticks by his guns until he buys a Robben and then charges to success. I think he has to be allowed the rest of the season, irrespective of the performances. If we make the CL he should stay, if not he should go.

The Sun this morning has a story about LVG using a a Zen master to lift the hoodoo off the squad. I hope he fits the 3-5-2 system!

13/01/2015 07:31, Report by Alex Urquhart-Cannon Louis van Gaal has called on Manchester United supporters to back the young Reds taking on Hull City in tonight's FA Youth Cup tie at Old Trafford.
Comparing the prestigious competition to its equivalent in Holland – a country renowned for producing high levels of talent – the United boss feels tournaments are vital for youngsters to progress. The Dutchman told MUTV: “We have in the Netherlands a structure that the best players have to play against each other so they can develop. When you start in a competition like this, at this age, it's fantastic. You can develop yourself much more than if you play against local teams. I hope that a lot of fans will come to see our future.".............www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2015/Jan/Louis-van-Gaal-acknowledges-importance-of-FA-Youth-Cup.aspx

After reading some posts on here about LVG, is the tide of universal approval starting to move slightly into the questioning zone?

After reading some posts on here about LVG, is the tide of universal approval starting to move slightly into the questioning zone? Still optimistic, but getting a little frustrated with how stubborn he seems to be to play/not play certain positions and sticking with 3 at the back. Hope his famed stubbornness doesn't lead him to try to prove a point over changing his 'philosophy'.

I don't think, so far anyway, it's unfair to question a lot of his decisions. Formation, starting line-up and substitutions have been questionable at differing levels. #injuries

The Falcao situation alone for me has brought about a wave of questionability..

Hope his famed stubbornness doesn't lead him to try to prove a point over changing his 'philosophy'. We have already seen Van Gaal double down on his 3-5-2 at home to Southampton. He was at least setting up in a 4-4-2 diamond for home matches. Now he is all in with 3-5-2 and is going to ride Van Persie/Rooney as far as they will take it. Which on this form will see United finish 6th and lose Falcao and Herrera in the process.

The Falcao situation alone for me has brought about a wave of questionability.. LVG must see things in training that none of us ever see during the matches. He has Falcao available and doesn't select him, which to my mind is a sign of dementia, but LVG himself also knows he has to get a top 4 finish - so why wouldn't he use him? Why bring on Fellaini instead of Wilson last match? Why keep Herrera on ice? Some weird shit must be going down at the training ground.
