Nice goal...but why didn't the Armenian no.5 close him down?? Have a look, Ronaldo is about 3 yards from goal and the guy actually starts to step away from him anticipating the cross...from there?...Ronaldo?...not likely mate!!!  |

Ron does look up as if to check on the cross, but the Portugal players were in the same place they were for the rest of the game (ie: somewhere between nowhere and thinking about getting there). Even so, anybody in their right mind is going to either cross and hope, or belt it at the keeper's legs/goalpost - at least that's what the Armenian's thought. In fact when I saw it the first time I assumed he'd bounced it off one of their defenders. Only a Ron-type, insane genius, would think the time and space was right for a move like that. You can see why the United lads say he's outrageous in training. |
