I think losing Owen b4 the Group games is a blessing in disguise, Obviously he wasn't going to regain full fitness in this tournament and at least we have found that out when we did against Sweden and not halfway through or even worse twenty minutes from the end of a quarter final or further into the tournament.
At least now we are in a position to do something about it, I couldn't give two hoots about the result of the Sweden game the important thing was to top the group and we did. Never seen an atmosphere dissapear so early on in a game as it did when Owen was injured, you could hear a pin drop at least ten to fifteen minutes after the incident and it had a delayed effect on the players as the same team did not come out second half as they had time to reflect on their chances after losing Owen.
Well now we know he's gone and know we need to adapt and thats an added bonus, the Equador game is massive and I want us to go at them, shite or bust they ain't gonna be easy but it's possibly the win we need to put the confidence back in the team with the new formation to go all the way, below is how Id like us to line up against Equador
-----------------------------------Rooney--------------------------------
Cole----------Lampard---------------------Gerrard-----Beckham
-------------------------------Hargreaves--------------------------------
or
-----------------------------------Rooney----------------------------------
------------------------Cole-------------------------------------------------
Gerrard------------Lampard---------------Beckham------Lennon

Quality read again. It's Sven's fault for being a tart and trying to be Mr.Risky when he knows this is his swansong tournament for England.

I would have liked to see Gerrard and Carrick on instead of Lamps and Hargreaves, Gerrard is better than Lamps by a mile, let him get in and attack like we know he can and Beckham will provide him, but both Gerrard and Lampard have blown many a chance in this tournament and i dot really blame Beckham for not threading them ball after ball so they can compete as to who can hit it higher into the stands.........
Fingers crossed we can battle through and Mcc will change things around, he did a great job at Middlesborough
