well my first gig review here.
long fucking day seeing as i was still feeling last nights bender, got to Wembley at 1pm on the request of my friend who wanted to be near to front of the stadium. Doors openede at 2:45 so had a long wait in the rain (i decided against bringing a rain-coat...BIG MISTAKE ) Got in fairly promptly, was enjoying the warmth of the stadium and looking around with my new bought fish and chip, go out onto the pitch, for it to piss down again, fowling my mood further, ruining my food and getting me soaked to the bone...not going well.
Rodrigo Y Gabriella were the first support act. a duet from mexico playing a mixture of flamenco and trash metal on classical guitars. Technically amazing guitar players but a bit tedious to watch
Dirty Pretty Things up next. One of my favourite bands but they couldn't cut it at a stadium. They played well as usual but their rough sound wasn't up to the size of the stadium.
The Streets were the final support act. Very impressed with them. played some good tunes and the front man, Mike Skinner got the audience involved and engaged with everyone to lift our moods (very well done). got the crowd going with some muse snippets, some queen snippets, even played football on stage with some guys.
On came Muse. They played a 2 hour set, which was more an extravagent show than a gig. There were giant screens displaying images and video of the gig. There were hundreds of lights and some giant light/satellite dishes on stage. The stage was a work of art in all honesty. The set Muse played was normal with nothing unexpected, a good mixture of older songs and newer ones.
Aside from the quite miserable start to the day, it was an excellent show and a must see if they are in your town.
