It was ok, I mean it was good, Rowling is a good writer. Anyone else find it a bit predictable though?

Yeah but honestly would you have been happy if it had ended in any other way after 10 years?

Tbh, I haven't actually read book five or six, so I'm not big a potter fan.... I just read it because I wanted to see if I was right, AND I didn't want other people to tell me what had happened.
To be honest, I did expect an happy ending, because when it comes down to it, the books was originally created for children/young adults and books like these rarely don't have happy endings.
I found the book itself just a bit... too long, the first four hundred pages had me rapidly losing interest in it, although all the bigger potter fans I know seemed to very much enjoyed it.
I thought the final fight was very well done. Although a bit jumpy in places.

As someone who has read all 7 books I enjoyed the first 400 pages, it changed the dynamic in the books and showed that which is obvious, when you get on well in a small group sometimes one person who you least expect is holding the group together and once they're gone the remaining two realise they don't click as well.
Also the change in kreature and the end of the dudleys as well as the death of some of the major members of the order and the bit sneaking into the ministry of magic and gringots are good.
The end battle I thought read a little chaotic and it did seem like a small part of a big picture which I personally enjoyed as it's more real that way that you only know what one person knows rather than what the narrator knows.

I actually thought it was one of the better ones, the ending was a bit predictable but i wouldn't have wanted it to end any other way except for the latter deaths.

Yeah, of course the whole book was predictable, that's half the charm of Rowling's writing. Still doesn;t stop being a stormer of a book though, and she's not left any loose ends barring the ending, which leads me to believe there's gonna be a new series of books, which leaves me a bit cold.

See I thought that after 10 years and 7 books she'd leave it now, but you never know wouldn't mind a new book or two about harry and ginny's young going to hogwarts but there are loads of famous dead bodies now

It was OK. Miles better than the sixth book, nowhere near as good as the first 4, slightly less good than the fifth. In all of the last 3 the editors ought to have had some balls and told her to cut bits and, in all honesty, should have told her to rewrite most of number 6.

In an interview, author J. K. Rowling gave additional information about the characters that she chose not to include in the book. The epilogue does not directly state that Ron and Hermione are married, but Rowling states that they are. Harry and Ron are both Aurors; Harry is the department head, and Hermione is "very high up" in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Luna Lovegood has become a naturalist of sorts, searching the world for odd and unique creatures. At Hogwarts there is now a permanent Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher; Voldemort's jinx on this position was broken with his death. There is also an unknown Headmaster, as Professor McGonagall was too old to assume the position permanently. Rowling did not identify either the Headmaster or the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. From wikipedia I doubt she'll write anything more to do with Harry ever again. I finished the book last night. And was happy to finally understand it all I had forgotten most part of book 6, so was happy to be able to follow in book 7. I liked the happy ending, that's how books should be; entertaining and with a happy ending, imo. I found the book good. Very good. Exciting pretty much all over. Not too long, though at times I felt like I wanted to know the ending, but as well I wanted to know what happened before the ending, which made me read on and on and lose sleep. I blame Rowling of that lost sleep I'm suffering from... But I liked it. Yay, can't wait for the silly Dutch version

I really enjoyed it, and while there weren't too many surprises it was still a lot of fun to read. It was weird knowing there isn't going to be a new book, but at least there's the movies to look forward to.
