England's so called revival was predictably stopped dead in its tracks as soon as they meet someone half decent which Ireland are and more. Wilkinson's return against the Scots was remarkable but ridiculously over-hyped. He struggled against the Italians and against the Irish he couldn't get a hold of the game and a back division shorn of Robinson looked decidely short of threat, although Strettle can hold his head up on his debut.
The centre pairing of Farrell and Tindell is woefully bereft of pace and idea's. Bringing back Catt as has been suggested may be a short term fix but hardly the long term answer - better to give the likes of Allen or Tait a run.
Ireland were all round the better team. O'Connell had an immense game and they have good balance in the back row. In the backs England simply don't have anyone to match O'Driscoll or D'Arcy for that matter and O'Gara has matured into something approaching world class - something i couldn't see a few years back.

As an(deliriously happy) Irish fan it's not really my business but I would certainly bring back Catt at inside Centre. It is short-term, but it would add some spark and take a huge responsibility off Wilkinson's shoulders(playing Catt there was instrumental in winning the knock-out games of the 2003 world cup when Wilkinson was struggling for form) and Tait outside him. I don't think England are a million miles away from a decent team. Good back three with Robinson, Lewsey and Stretle, good half-backs. But all the really good teams have dangerous centres, Ireland, France have Jauzion, Nz have Mauger and Australia have the lad they tried at scrum half recently(can't remember his name, wears a scrum cap, Flatley?). The thing to remember is that this Irish team has been building to this seaon for a number of years, as England did in 2003. If we can beat our bogie team France in the group we could make it to the final of this years World Cup. Thats a big if, however, but at least we have some serious fire-power. Don't forget that if England beat South Africa, against whom you guys have a great record, in the Group then you have a clear run to the semis. Thats not beyond the realms of possibility. And please do us a favour by beating France in 2 weeks time!!

wilkinson's been out forever hasnt he? well maybe he'll be back to his best in time for the world cup...it'll be fun to watch new zealand totally annihilate them...apologies to any england fans...but i'm a die hard all black lover. which might prove dangerous since i live in melbourne.

wasnt this a record loss for england. id love to get into rugby its exciting as hell but im in the states :[ Do you want to play it or watch? Most big cities in the States have Rugby clubs, where you could do both. Also a lot of Colleges play Rugby so I'm sure you could find out more there. It's a great game to play( I had to quit through injury at 21) but if you just want to watch it I know most Irish Bars or Scottish bars in the Cities show the Six Nations. I'm sure the US team has a website too. Good luck man!
