Not watched F1 for years - nothing but sponsor orientated now and it's not even real racing anymore but glad Alonso is OK Can anyone honestly say it's better (and more watchable) now than it was in the 60s and 70s? - the only improvement is the safety IMO

Goes to show you how old I am. I can remember watching these in a cinema or an old black and white tv set years ago.

Yeah Melbourne's gearing up for it, load of formula one related stuff going on.
Didn't really get just how loud they are till I moved here. I live a few mile from the track but you can hear them still. Make a mighty racket!

I live a few mile from the track but you can hear them still. Make a mighty racket! Bloody hell. When I lived in aussie land up until 1972, where they have the F1 track now was called Albert Park. Sth Melbourne FC (Aussie Rules) was there also but now they have moved to Sydney and now called the Sydney Swans. It was a big park with ponds, ducks, swans the lot. Then my family in aussie land years ago said that Albert Park is not there anymore as they have built an F1 racing circuit on it. How times have changed.

Huge Alonso fan so not too sure about watching the Aussie GP in the early hours. I work nights so was tempted to swap days off but fuck that now. Mercedes will nail it again this year but i'd like to see Rosberg win the title this year...not a fan of Hamilton at all, reminds me of a Chelsea gobshite.

Kimi Fan!! Seems to be stuck in wrong teams, else would have won more titles.Bback from retirement, did brilliantly in a Lotus car when his teammate Romain Grosjean was setting records for crashing. The Ferrari car hasnt been quite up to the mark last season, and dont see a major upgrade this season as well. Hope the setup is more competitive this time

Ferrari look better this season than last, but then so do Williams and even Red Bull. Should be a good battle for 'best of the rest'

I am a Ferrari fan, but also an Alonso fan. Think Ferrari have made big steps forward this year but think we're set up for another season of Mercedes domination. Doubt mclaren will be anywhere until at least the second half of the season. Funny how so many people complained about how red bull were dominating but the Mercedes domination could be even more thorough. F1 really needs to make changes soon or risks getting stuck in this pattern and will lose viewers.
