From BBC:
Amir Khan says his British lightweight rivals need to "fight me now before it's too late". Olympic silver medallist Khan, 20, will have his 12th pro fight when he meets Steffy Bull in Cardiff on Saturday.
"I can beat the likes of Graham Earl and Kevin Mitchell already. When I've had 20 fights they will not be able to touch me," said Khan.
"I will be such a level above them they won't be able to fight me because the boxing world won't let them."
Khan earned rave reviews for his 55-second demolition of supposedly durable Frenchman Mohammed Medjadji in February.
And the Bolton fighter is irritated that some observers are reserving judgement on his talents until he has fought one his leading British rivals.
"Guys like Earl are the ones I want to be fighting now because I want to shut up a lot of people who think I am not good enough yet. I just know I can beat them already," he insisted.
"I will keep doing the business in the ring and I am more than willing to let other people plan my progress.
"But I am going to win a couple of titles before I step up for the really big ones - and by this time next year I want to be world champion."

Um i'm going to reserve judgement until he has fought somebody that isn't a road sweeper brought in to get knocked down in the first round.
Problem with letting the managers dictate so much of who they fight is that they have a tendency to make sure that their fighter faces nobody of note, they just drag it out as long as they can and milk the cow in the mean time. They'll argue that fighting 20 road sweepers gives the boxer an education and helps him develop, where all he really learns is that he can knock a bum down in the early rounds over and over again until he gets bored. And boxing fans are treated as mugs paying to watch this.

He reminds me of Richardson, a lot of fighting talk, but yet to prove it's not all in his mouth.

He's got talent but they need to throw him in with someone who's actually going to test him, his management seem to think it's doing him good beating these journeymen but it's just devaluing his reputation, reminds of the hype surrounding Harrison after his gold and all the jokers he fought after that saying he was gonna be world champion....well we know where that went, but Kahn has age on his side so I suppose can take it a bit slower, he just had another easy fight on the undercard for Calzaghe's fight

I think the experts agree it may be a little early to throw him at the big boys just yet. It's easy to forget that he's still learning his trade as a pro, just because of the hype surrounding him at the moment.
He is the real deal, i'm sure of it. the people he's fighting at the moment might not be title contenders but they are for the most part the kind of decent fighters that anyone has to fight on their way up.
you only have to look at the way he fights to realise he's a bit special. His hands don't magically seem to be going that fast because the other fighters head is going really slowly, they really are as quck as lightning and he hits hard too.
We need to lighten up on him a bit i think, we all want a genuine contender but the urge to fast track him should be resisted, especially as i don't think we have that long to wait now anyway.

Oddly enough I saw Khan fight last night but this time it wasn't a road sweeper but a teacher. I would not be happy as a fighter if I were given opponents who don't fight back; his opponent just hugged him as if he wanted to dance rather than fight. Can't they just throw him in the Kop with a "I HATE PAISLEY'S SCUM OF A TEAM" t-shirt on and see if he survives? Surely that will be more of a test...

And boxing fans are treated as mugs paying to watch this. m8 i said the exact same thing to my m8 last night, when is Khan going to fight someone with actual talent, what is he going to do fight 3rd Rate fighters, who are teachers in their spare time, for another 4 years then when he comes up against anyone with talent fail!! Prime example Audley Harrison, ok Big Age and weight difference, but he was fed Jobbers for years upon Years, increasing his bank balance and his ego only, and not actually increasing his talent, when he came up against someone with the slightest bit of punch power and who could get past his ineffective defence, he was "KNOCKED DA FUCK OUT"... If he's not careful Khan will go down the same road! My personal opinion of him, i think he is overated, was good in the olympics for his age ofcourse, but ive seen fighters from my area with just as much talent and more than Khan, they just don't have Frank Warren pulling the strings!

He reminds me of Richardson, a lot of fighting talk, but yet to prove it's not all in his mouth. ::)Olympic silver #clap# The lad is quality. What do you expect? Throw him in against the very best in the world when he's only just at the start of his career. He's getting better all the time.

Barry Magwigon ( sorry for the spelling) declared him as the most gifted boxer Britain has ever produced. Praise indeed!
