McLaren have been stripped of their points in the 2007 Formula One constructors' championship after the outcome of the 'spygate' row. The team was also fined a record $100m (£49.2m), which includes any prize and television money they would have earned from the constructors' championship.
But drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso can keep their points.
The team must also prove there is no Ferrari 'intellectual property' in their cars next year before racing.
The decision means Ferrari, who are currently second in the constructors' championship, 57 points ahead of third-placed BMW Sauber are almost certain to be crowned champions.
When he left the hearing, FIA president Max Mosley was asked if justice had been done, and replied "Yes."
McLaren team chief Ron Dennis is due to give his reaction to the verdict at a 1915 BST news conference.
damnnn thats a harsh punishment!!! atleast lewis gets to keep his points.. hope he can bring home the title now!!!

Honestly, they deserved the punishment. I'm a bit disappointed they allowed the drivers to keep their points, I would've sanctioned them too. I mean, what McLaren did was really bad and the drivers also benefited from it. The sanction should've been more severe...

Emmm excuse me but the drivers are driving a FERRARI!!!!!! they still driving the car McClaren has been fined for!! Drivers knew it!! they asked other to spy Ferrari Alonso and De Larosa were in contacts with each other and other people for this reason. Now if FIA removed the points to the team cos they've been found out guilty its becos they say McClaren is guitly so you cannot fined someone just for half!! this fine will never be complete if they don't remove also the drivers's points!!! FFS they're cheating driving a car they never created!!Using someone else's files!!

Well Alonso could easily work for CIA cos he's very good in these things about Hamilton i dnt know but as u said its a bit absurd to find 4 FERRAR'S compete for the same thing. Its is weird how crappy McClaren were when Kimi tried his ass off to win the title but they always found a way to boycott him, maybe bcos he's not so good licking boss'a a**es as Aloso is

Hmm.. well seeing as most of you seem to be foriegn and supporters of Ferrari, im not suprised that the comments are negative. Lets face the facts eh, they have no proof that any of the information benefited the mclaren set-up. Now please correct me if im wrong but did mclaren have those documents before the season started? If i remember right they got them in April (not 100% on that) meaning the first two races would have already happened and in both mclaren showed good pace. especially in malaysia where they got a 1-2. My point is they were very quick anyway and i don't think the ferrari data made them any quicker than they would of been. Was there any noticeable improvements? no really. Now, the main reason the drivers were fined aswell is because the story of Lewis Hamilton has been huge and the viewing numbers have rocketed. If his title hunt was to suddenly be destroyed, Formula 1 would lose a hell of alot of British and global viewers. I would personally stop watching it atleast and im damn sure i wouldn't be the only one. I agree they should of been docked point aswell but that just wouldn't be good business for the sport. i reckon if both mclaren cars were docked 10 pts it would of been fair enough considering they have no solid proof (well from what ive heard) that mclaren benefited from the ferrari documents. I hate Ferrari btw but i have tried to keep my comments as unbiased as possible. I hated Schumacher aswell, such a boring racer. He could only ever overtake in the pits.

Ok, I see that we don't agree, but there's nothing wrong with that. Uhmmm... now, ok, you said you hate Ferrari, but how can you say that Schumacher could only overtake in the pits! What about all the times he started from behind and made his way to the top?! And he could never have been champion for 7 times only by overtaking in the pits! I agree with what you said about the ban, they definitely should've docked the McLaren drivers 10 points at least, this half- waycpunishment just doesn't make any sense. Punishing the constructor and not the drivers, when those 2 are part of one team - one can't do without the other!

@ Mickeyb
"Hi Mike do you know the Red Car's [Ferrari's] weight distribution? It would be important for us to know so that we could try it in the simulator."De la Rosa confirmed to the WMSC council that he received a text message from Coughlan with precise details of the Ferrari cars' weight distribution
Alonso replied, questioning whether the information was 100 per cent accurate. De la Rosa replied: "All the information from Ferrari is very reliable. It comes from Nigel Stepney, their former chief mechanic ... he's the same person who told us in Australia that Kimi was stopping in lap 18. He's very friendly with Mike Coughlan, our Chief Designer, and he told him that."
In Alonso's reply the Spanish driver states that McLaren should test the Ferrari gas in its own tires. "They have something different from the rest," he wrote, "... let's hope we can test it during this test, and that we can make it a priority!"
On April 12, de la Rosa wrote to Coughlan requesting information about Ferrari's braking system, to which Coughlan replied: "We are looking at something similar."
Here just few emails betweeen Alonso e DeLarosa. Now im NOT A FERRARI SUPPORTER but only bcos u support McLaren(i suppose so after the first things you said-"Hmm.. well seeing as most of you seem to be foriegn and supporters of Ferrari, im not suprised that the comments are negative"- This is childish how can u justify McClaren for what they done... 4 FERRARI'S are fighting for the same thing...McClaren stole that files they spy Ferrari to get all this informations (from Stepney a Ferrari's man) and u say we're negative cos we're not english? McClaren along with their drivers should be banned for this year and the year to some.

Ok, and what if I do support Ferrari? I personally have nothing against McLaren, or the other teams, but I've always been fond of Ferrari. However, the previous years one of my favourite drivers was from McLaren (Kimmi) and that didn't stop me from supporting him. I'm not biased, even if Croatia by some miraculous chance had an F1 team, I wouldn't follow them blindly. I keep an open mind and support the teams and drivers I like!

The amount Hamilton's done for the sport this year, the guy must be an absolute gem as far as they're concerned.
If the drivers are brought into the scandal, that takes it into a whole new light and yet again brings the sport into question, they cannot afford that whatsoever, especially not with Hamilton.
Unfortunately i'm not sorry for that, it seems to be for the best of F1, McLaren will have learnt their lesson.

Unfortunately i'm not sorry for that, it seems to be for the best of F1, McLaren will have learnt their lesson. My idea is Hamilton is not involved in this story. I like him and i think he had a great season so far, sometimes you can have the best car but if u dnt have the best driver ready to drive it its only a waste of time. Like Marina i've always been a fan of people like Kimi Mika Villeneuve(and they didn't drive for Ferrari in the past only Kimi in the present time)I isupport the drivers not the team. I do believe Alonso is pretty much involved in this story,i dnt know why but this guy's got something who doesn't convince me at all,he's a fake and cannot win or compete properly,in the last 3 years he had Briatore behind him watching his back but as soon as he came to McClaren he started to have problems cos he realize 1) Hamilton is not Fisichella(Hamilton can win the title Fisichella neither in his dreams) 2) Briatore wasn't behind him anymore...thats why he's doing everything in his power to go back to Renault! Im sorry but McClaren cheated and this punishment is a punishment at 50% and thats not fair.
