When I was a kid, I loved rugby league. Players were, for the most part, gentlemen and even if they weren't they saved it for the weekend's game.
Ever since rugby league players started coming to Sydney, getting drunk, high and acting like schoolboys - and getting away with it - I've stopped following the game altogether. The whole head-ramming thing was bad enough, but they could at least keep it on the field.
Some fans at the Sydney Football Stadium appear to have followed suit, and fights are becoming more and more common.
These days, I follow Randwick, my local Rugby Union team. It's a far more civilised affair from what I can gather.
Also, international rugby union is far more competitive IMO

the problem with rugby league is what is exactly on now. The world cup, and no one is really interested and is very predictable. the final is either australiav england/new zealand.
and the set up is the worst i have seen. in pool 1 is australia, england, new zealand, and papau new guinai. top 3 go through. seriosly wat odds to png have on progressing.
and with the other 2 pools only the top team go through. i know they made it this way to stop the massive score lines, but still put more teams in there such as malta, lebanon, usa and other rugby league national teams.
in saying this its good to see that players are able to represent other countries when they're not selected for australia. it may make it a little more respected, but still rugby league needs more international competition. this is why football is the world game

Absolutely perfect! How much did the Aussies want to talk themselves up before the mother of all falls?!

while i never like to see australia loose in any sports, this was wierd. i was kind of happy about this. lets see if that bitch, rebecca wilson write about the dreaded state rugby league.
