Batushka is alright. I feel they could have been a bit more melodic. I don't know if you have already, but if you haven't , give Be'lakor a listen. They're great . Proper melodic death metal. Abeyance is my personal favourite , from the breath and bone album , but Stone's Reach has some brilliant tracks too. I don;t really want my DM to be too melodic. Unless it's Swedish! Will check out that Be'lakor though. Thanks i still love at the gates. slaughter of the soul...what a fucking record! dont know about the new stuff though, never gave it a listen so far.

redcase and tatty might like it.
one of my best mates who now lives in california has got a new project. we were playing in a good band years ago back in vienna, then i moved to spain, him and the bass player who were a couple moved to her home california and my best mate to the countryside. he has been in the states for some time now and started this new project "sixes". they are about to release an LP on southern lord in autumn and it sounds awesome. i really, really like it.

Southern Lord are releasing some stellar stuff recently. The new Darkest Hour is really good. If not Sedishy Metal sounding. aye, southern lord is brilliant. we were also in contact with them about 7 years ago with my old band. but nothing really materialized at that time and as i mentioned i left the band first to move away and the rest broke up shortly after. but we had lots of interest from a couple of good record labels. damn it...i should have continued playing in that band now that i think of it stopped listening to so many bands in the last years. darkest hour is one of them. many bands that i appreciate what they did in the past but honestly have to admit that i have no idea what they do nowadays. not really going to many shows as i basically have seen almost everything i ever wanted to see. i`m probably missing out on a lot of good stuff now. its like i`m still stuck in the past haha but as much as i might miss at the moment, i`m damn sure nothing will ever come close to my favourite band for the last 18 years or so, which is neurosis. best band to ever create music on this planet, awesome guys aswell. absolutely magical music

i remember around 2000 or 2001 when "a sun that never sets" came out and i first listened to it. that was unbelievable, it changed me completely, opened up my world of music and i just wanted to stop playing in simple punk/hardcore bands and do something more complex. very few albums that will stick with me for the rest of my life. a sun that never sets along with "jane doe" from converge are two of them. they probably had the most influence on me as a musician. incredible stuff.

mate, did you ever listen to isobel&november? No. Think I may have missed that. swedish band.pretty hard to find stuff.there are some songs on youtube.but if you can manage somehow to download or get your fingers on a copy of "hymns for the myriad spirits",do it!thats an outstanding work.some epic, dark music.amazing poetical lyrics.and the guy's voice is incredible. i think they have lots of stuff on bandcamp."hymns for the..." is slow and really dark.they have some more experimental records aswell, experimenting with dark ambient, noise etc. one of my favourite bands.hymns for the myriad spirits is probably the record i heard the most during dark winter nights over the last few years
