Any cat owners on here? I need guidance. My cat just got neutered yesterday. Poor lad is hopped up on painkillers and antibiotics. One question - the vet didn't give him the "cone of shame" for wearing. Now anyone who knows cats know that they groom themselves and it's impossible to continuously monitor them and stop them from trying to lick. The neutering is a basic nip and tuck with no stitches but there's still a minute incision. is it ok that he's without the cone? Will he end up infecting himself? Should I get the cone for him even though the vet didn't suggest that I get one? Any help is appreciated, ta. Our vet didn’t give our cat one when she had the op, so perhaps it’s a new thing? I’d suggest ringing the vet if you’re concerned. Our one got a stitch on another cut and a different vet didn’t put a cone on and of course she got into it and had to get re-stitched! I’d err on the side of caution. Cheers mate. Our vet told me there are no stitches on the outside since they sort of cut his tubes and tucked it in. But the licking does concern me. I think I will get him the cone.

Why is it that any time you visit any website, to do with almost any organisation (or so it would seem) do you get a bloody survey emailed to you?

Well, I’ve had a “dodgy” knee for years, previously been to see my GP, got a referral letter to have an X-ray, but it always settled down before I actually had one! Over the last few months the bloody thing’s flared up again, and not settled as before, so I had an X-ray last month. Went to see a consultant who then referred me for an MRI, as the X-ray was normal ,which I had last Saturday afternoon. Off to A&E this morning ,as it’s got even more painful and is now swollen, so the Mrs has kicked off (no pun intended) and is taking me there herself-as I can’t bloody drive with it! She done this as her best friend reported a similar condition last year, which turned out to be Septic Arthritis & she almost had to have part of her leg amputated, and is still off work after 6 months! Shit!

No Septic Arthritis, as my bloods came back negative thank god, the nurse practitioner thinks that I may have twisted it when I had my MRI & made the problem worse,it was like a bloody obstacle course to get me strapped in prior to being scanned ! The MRI report was not available for her to see either, so I’ll start to pester the consultant’s Secretary from next week. Damned sore though, and I have a stupidly high pain threshold too!

That’s a result if it’s not septic arthritis anyway. Funny things, knees. They never seem to know what’s going on with them and it’s always twice as complicated as first suspected.

For years my dad had terrible bother with his knee, had physio and all sorts without a fix. Was only after a doctor noticed him putting trousers on an awkward way that they realised it was actually all coming from his hip. He had landed hard straight down on his knee playing football once which jarred the hip joint. It basically gave him the equivalent damage to his cartilage of bad arthritis.

7 years ago the English company I worked for here in Sydney decided to pull out of its international operations, leaving me and 3 others jobless. The thought of prostituting myself about for another job at my age was terrifying, but I needed to as I still had a mortgage and kids living at home.
On the advice of my Accountant and with the support of my family, I bit the bullet, borrowed money, and bought the shares and assets of the business so we could carry on.
Why am I posting?
Yesterday, 7 years and 2 months to the day, I sold the business and am now free to retire when I want (although I’m staying on 3 days a week to help the new owners until they’re comfortable). It’s an amazing feeling and I’m so lucky to have had the backing of people that believed in me.
I guess the moral of the story is that sometimes it’s good to take a chance and give it a go if you can. I’m bloody glad I did! (and a decent bottle of Scotch will find it’s way to my Accountant’s office very soon).

I was lucky enough to be able to retire early a few years ago, not because of any great genius on my part, but mostly because of blind luck, being in the right place at the right time, and a decent amount of hard work and support. It was the best decision I ever made. Being present for my kids and being able to watch them grow up has been the great joy of my life.

I was going to start a thread, but these sort of things don't usually get a lot of participation on here, so I'll just shove it in here and hope for the best.
I'd be interested in seeing an XI of peoples favourite players who didn't play for United or their home country. Not necessarily the players people think are the best, but the ones they enjoyed watching the most or respected for whatever reason. Considering there is a pretty good range of ages and locations on here, it could be interesting to see how the teams differ.
Preud'homme
Srna Baresi Vierchowod Lizarazu
Luis Enrique Jeremies Nedved
Litmanen Vieri Del Piero

I'm guessing we're around the same age judging by that team. I was also thinking about Sammer, and Redondo is a great shout, I forgot about him. I wanted to get Vidal in the team and almost swapped Litmanen for Hagi because he's got a whiff of scouse about him, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Mancini was a wondaful player. He'd be regarded much higher outside of Italy if his career hadn't crossed over with Baggio and Zola. I think he was probably a better player than Zola, but Zola had that PL shine for a long time so gets remembered more.

Yeah, agree Mancini over Zola for me.
Was a golden age for Italian forwards the 90's; Baggio the pick of the bunch but at the start of the decade you also Vialli, then onwards to Del Piero, Vieiri, Inzaghi, Signori, Zola, Mancini, Totti. Even Chiesa and Casiraghi too. Getting up to watch football Italia on Channel 4, with that lot playing. What a time to be alive.
Hagi was great but I had a thing for Futre and Scifo. Both wonderful players, injury really robbed Futre of what could have been a glorious career.
Redondo was a dream player, who got dropped from Argentina for having long hair (apparently), those wacky South Americans.
