There's some quite strong views on this thread, and rightly so. United were shite, pure and simple. However, credit must be given to Derby for closing down our players at every opportunity; they hustled and bustled all night.
This result has been coming; it's not as though we have been banging in the goals recently.
I agree with StretfordEnders point earlier: - PiG is a liability; he may be a good shot stopper, but his aerial ability and distribution is crap. Send him back to West Brom or Coventry. Surely Foster is a better choice?!
Nani yet again demonstrated his ability to pass/cross the ball to the opposition. He was dire last night; although he wasn't alone in that respect. The front two didn't produce much, but they had very little service with which to create any chances. However, Tevez certainly looked distracted; he'll no doubt be warming the bench come Sunday.
Vidic was the only class on show in a United shirt at the end of the day.
Hardly a surprise that Ronaldo decided to total his car after such a team performance! I was tempted myself!!

Oh come one. Kuszczak was not at fault for that one goal by Derby...that was simply an UNSTOPPABLE strike. Blame the midfield and forward line for the mess, not poor PiGgy

I was questioning PiGs overall display; Derby could easily have added a couple more goals due to TK errors. But like I said, he wasn't the only player not at the races. I just hope we show more ability, desire, and effort on Sunday.

Remember how we were a rigid 4-4-2 when Queroz wasn't there? He came back and we had a formation who no one could predict
The sky sports graphic would show Rooney and Giggs up front but the match would start and all of a sudden it would be Ronaldo,Rooney,Giggs,Scholes all inter-changing with Carrick sitting back. The fluidness and the unpredictability is gone.

I have had little confidence in him since day 1. Any keeper in the world would have struggled to stop that shot.

Quiroz was largely responsible for the 4-5-1 formation that nobody could cope with at either end.

Nani yet again demonstrated his ability to pass/cross the ball to the opposition. He was dire last night; although he wasn't alone in that respect. I'm well late responding as I've just returned from holiday, where I foolishly set an alarm and actually got up early to watch this game. Nani was the worst player on the park in my opinion. As andoverred says, every deadball he delivered went to the opposition or sailed wide/high or both. I was pulling my hair out in frustration, especially as Derby's deadball play was for the most part threatening (reality check - they're in a relegation scrap in the division below us!) #furious# At least the final outcome is retrievable with the 2nd leg to come. Thank fuck!

What irritated me was I think the 75th minute, Ronaldo and Rooney running headlong into the box waiting for the header, Nani gets the ball to the right place perfect time to pull the trigger? no he starts doing stepovers.
