Anyone seen it yet? I went last night and really enjoyed it. Superb performance from Mickey Rourke, who was one of my favourite actors back in the 80's so it's great to see him in such a good part. I have no interest in wrestling to be honest but this is about much more than that. I'd recommend it highly.

Was pretty good. Good performance from Rourke, but not a lot happens really, it felt a bit short of content.

Fantastic performance.
Too many good things too say about the movie. Just amazing.

It was great, but it certainly doesn't have much rewatch value... probably because it's so depressing.

Yeah it's not a action packed movie or anything but it is really through to life.
I remember Mickey saying in a interview that he could relate a lot of the issues in the film to his own personal experiences in life.

it did a great job of depicting the career path and plight of a very small percentage of wrestlers. that hardcore shit isn't real pro-wrestling

In my opinion this movie got blading banned.
Not saying that's a bad thing necessarily, but I think exposing some of the inner workings of the business to a mainstream audience had a big effect on wrestling. Most people had no idea wrestlers actually cut themselves to produce the blood.

a fair shout. WWE and ROH had been exposing the business for a long time before this film though

a fair shout. WWE and ROH had been exposing the business for a long time before this film though How do you mean? Obviously kayfabe died years ago, but most non-fans and even casual fans had no idea about things like blading. I can see how people would see it as barbaric.
