Di Maria has been outstanding in the first half. From what I have seen he is a fantastic crosser and hits the ball with some venom in his shots.

He's good it has to be said. Very dangerous. In fairrness I'd probably look pretty good if I was playing against Glen Johnson. But still.

He's a good crosser, good running at people and creating space, wouldn't say no to him at United but I don't think he is the answer to all our prayers that a certain someone has made him out to be.

This is the first time i've seen him play and he was impressive it has to be said. Like Johnboy says though, we weren't the only ones linked with him and his price tag will balloon out of control before long.

He was good last night but he was immense against Everton at the begining of the year.

I sure liked what I saw yesterday... This guy will become a top player, no doubt and would be a very good signing for us but as other posters have already pointed out, Benfica will sell him to the highest bidder... As good as he is, 40M is way over the top & I don't expect us to bid in excess of 20M....

He won't be bought for £40 million. If he leaves this year he won't cost more than £20m unless he has an absolute cracker of a world cup.

Lescott for 25M, 35M + Eto for Ibra.... we are talking about a hyper inflated transfer market and a WC year is only gonna make it worse... As long as money bags are in for players, you did expect them to stop at nothing even if it means paying the ridiculous buyout clause and wages... I don't know about Benfica's financial health but if they don't need to sell to the balance books, they can afford to play hardball...

He was good last night but he was immense against Everton at the begining of the year. Yeah, he impressed me against Everton too, I remember him diving quite a lot in that tie though. I think he would be a good option for our left seen as though he's naturally left footed, delivers a cracking ball and is also a goal threat. He might cost a fair bit but if you want quality then you're gonna have to pay the going rate, even if it is inflated. We've tried to solve the problem with cut price buys like Tosic and Obertan but neither of them seem to have the confidence of Fergie so it might be time to take a bigger risk.

Add Tosic+Obitan in the bid. Money issue solved. I'm another who saw him play for the first time this week, and cant help but agree with whatever you all have been saying. Perfect replacement for Giggsy.

So you've seen him once and are drooling over him.
Quick, someone phone Fergie and let him know that I've seen a player have one good game and we should spend billions on him. He's also good on Football Manager. I rest my case.
I understand that he may be quality, and by the sounds of it Fergie is sniffing after him, but don't base your own personal judgement on 1 fuckin' game

I'm not a scout and cant spend hours watching the Portuguese League just to judge one player. Clearly, he must have something about him to justify the kind of praise he has received over the past two seasons. If I want to form an opinion after one game I will! Stop trying to be the final authority on all things related to football, and show some respect for others' opinions. And by the way cliches like - ''He's good on Football Manager'' are used often enough and are lame. Adebayor scored 60 goals in a season in my previous save. I dont think he is the best striker in the world, I have a mind of my own. Thank you very much!

You are allowed to have an opinion, I'd like to think that it would be based on something more tangible than just one match though, not really enough evidence to suggest trading Obertan, Tosic and shit loads of money and saying he's the perfect replacement for Giggs.
And just because he's been hyped up doesn't mean he'd be any good for us, I remember a certain Freddy Adu being billed as the next big thing.
And the Football Manager comment is a cliche, but most cliches are cliches for a reason, there are elements of truth in them. There are a handful of footballers that either have good stats on these games, or have a brilliant YouTube video, and this leads to hype.

This thread is about Di Maria so naturally people are going to give there opinion on him, I don't know what your problem is lol. I think Di Maria would be an excellent signing, I have seen him play on several occasions and he looks terrific, he had a great game for Argentina a few weeks ago aswell. Do you expect us to find a player in our price range who is proven at every level and is going to be a guaranteed success, because it is not going to happen unless there names are Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo lol.
