I'm not sure about him, seems any winger who shows a bit of flair nowadays is instantly the new prodigy and a 50 millions price tag is slapped on his forehead.
It doesn't help when people who have only seen players like this on youtube and then buy them on fm then turn out to be world beaters in 10 years time.
However I would also like to add my delight at United being a club that nurtures the young talent. But for silly money any player like that is instantly expected to be a world beater from game one, which is unfair. So many promising players fall by the wayside because of a price tag and an unfair hype machine.
As for Di Maria, if he's real bound and happy, good luck son, we'll see you at real valladoid in 2 years time.

Were dreaming if we think he is coming to O.T. This is a prime example of the inflation prices in which Sir Alex is talking about.
Forget about it lads it's not going to happen.

We have Nani and Valencia with Obertan Park and Giggs as back-up so we are ok on the wing. AMC is where we need to spend the money in my opinion.

Yeah I agree with Bananarama we need to look for a good AMC. Who can give us 15 goals a season.

Yeah I agree with Bananarama we need to look for a good AMC. Who can give us 15 goals a season. Joe Cole. Value, £0. I dont understand why everyone in general nowadays talk about him like he's a natural winger. I've never thought of him as that. I think he'd be perfect, ideal, in the middle. He's 28. If Scholesy hangs up his boots after this season, we could have Joe Cole ready just to slot right in there and get at least three or four good seasons out of him.

I prefer Joe Cole in the centre to the wings anyway because I don't think he has enough pace. He's nicely 2 footed though and he could move in between Left and Centre in a 4-5-1 with Nani.

There is the added bonus that Joe Cole should rediscover some of that creative flair he had when he was young, but had to sacrifice at the altar of dour, win at all costs football.

He won't score 15 goals a season and is over-hyped to ridiculous levels. If Joe Cole wasn't English, the media would have nothing to do with him. If he wasn't at Chelsea, he wouldn't be lauded nearly as much as he is. Ancelotti isn't thick, he can see past the hype and bullshit and see Cole for what he is. Another slightly better than average player who came into Chelsea on the crest of a newfound money wave that saw other 'brilliant' players come in like Alexei Smertin, Geremi and our very own English football flop Juan Seba Veron. And he's a Chelsea supporter. I hope he goes to Spurs. Hell, he can go to City for all I give a damn, just as long as he doesn't come to us. I'd like someone who can actually improve our squad thanks, who'll win us the League or a tight semi-final in the Nou Camp. That ain't Joe Cole. Just to stay remotely on topic by the way, I don't think Di Maria is that man either. The lad seems to play best as a winger and we already have Tony V and an apparently ready to flourish Nani. Di Maria isn't going to accept only playing when those two don't.

But he is a skillful player who has the ability to produce a killer pass, so I think he would be a good player to have in the squad, especially on a free transfer. We would all prefer Silva or Gourcuff, but for whatever reason Fergie does not want them.

Well, we need someone who can shoot just a little bit better than Anderson. That is the one thing that we have lacked in the midfield and that is goals. I have lost count the number of shots he has had since being here, and I cannot see his goal-to-shot ratio improving anytime in the near future. We need to re-evaluate the situation with Michael Carrick too.

The mention of berbatov in a totally unrelated thread.. well I never.
As for di maria some of you have made good points about the money issues and market inflation. Although I'm still undecided as to how he would play week in week out in the premier league, I think joe cole would be a good acquisition, at least for a league assault. He could play centrally or an attacking role in a 4 3 3
If fergie says he's only going to bring in one more max, then I'd probably pass on joe cole, and want someone younger and a bit more dynamic and game turning in europe. But that's not looking likely either at the moment.

I hope Ando stays. I'd hate it if he left and we didn't see the best of him.
