Rumble was fantastic, almost made me forget I was waiting for Rock to show. Roman should lose to Cody at night 1 and Sami at night 2 of WM.

Coming to the end of 1993 now. ECW is, to me, unwatchable. I've given up and just have to hope I can pick it up in 1994. Even the PPV’s/Supercards are a mess. Although that could be the way the Network has cut them, it seems unlikely as I've tried watching original cuts as well. The video quality is potato. You can really see the difference emerging between WCW and WWF. WCW are beginning to spend money and the main eventers are appearing far more regularly on the weekly shows. It makes for much more coherent storytelling. Mean Gene joins us! The heavyweight titles thing is still a mishmash though and they seem unsure of how to maximise the talent they have. WWF is brutal. Feuds are seemingly thrown together and forgotten about as quickly. It's basically all squash matches, although that is also changing. The thing with Lawlor right before Survivor Series was sheer panic. Do we think Vince is actually a former-USSR sleeper agent? Because the OTT America-YAY! is perilously close to protesting too much. It's so cringe. Lex Luger is completely wasted as 'The American Original' too - what a drip. Checking in on the history watch through. We have reached Wrestlemania X. The build has been great and I'm genuinely hyped so I decided to watch it on my TV instead of having everything on my phone. Watched the first two hours toight, have the finale planned for this evening. I have never watched X before. Best v Owen first on the card?! I enjoyed it and the win was a huge moment. The cooler matches haven't been awful although a couple of the finishes have seemed properly botched. Was Luna supposed to miss Dink?? Mr Perfect is back!! Why would people think he would be face? Lex really did get royally screwed in this run. I was getting into the idea of Lex vs Bret which was hinted at in the build. Should have been given the belt at SummerSlam and then this to seemingly be taken out of the title picture and move him onto a feud with Perfect (this is what it looks like, haven't watched beyond 'Mania). Just devastating. Still can't get into ECW but am thinking about getting back in before the title tournament. WCW is great. Heenan has shown up (but I do miss Jesse Ventura) and they are teasing Hogan. Superbrawl IV was pretty good. There is a load of decent undercard talent and DDP breaking through is fun to watch. (He was so wasted during the Invasion.) Austin, Regal, Pillman and Mark Mero are all great workers. Vadar is so awesome, I am a serious mark  . They didn't seem to have any sort of plan for Rude and the 'International' WHC but he is about to feud with Sting. Possibly Sting wins that then goes on to unify the belts in a feud with Flair/Hogan? Hulkster ain't coming in to not at least challenge for the top belt which is clearly the WCW Heavyweight Championship even if the actual belt is a bit rubbish. I'm really marking for both companies at the moment. It's all a huge amount of fun. |

It is. Huge fan, although once again the end seemed a little tame/botched with Shawn getting his leg tangled in the ropes then untangled and oops now it's his arm that's tangled.
There was a lot of that. Savage strung Crush up backstage but didn't tie it off to anything. So Crush just ended up lying on the floor.
And as much as I was massively excited for Bret beating Yokozuna the finish there was a bit of a nothing too. 'Yokozuna fell over, three count!'
It felt like they had all these stories built up to blow off matches but has no idea how to match the endings to the hype.

Didn’t love the finish, but what an atmosphere. The match as a whole sort of suffered from Romanologue Reigns doing his boring talking bits, but the in-ring action was good.
It sort of doesn’t make sense that KO didn’t come out sooner, so I hope they explain that when the cheating started happening he left his house, got in his car and drove to the arena to fuck people up.
Men’s Chamber was good also.

I think it does make sense that KO didn't come out sooner. Sami has not been his friend in recent months, he has been his enemy. KO shouldn't care if Sami wins or loses, but Sami did prevent his beatdown from getting worse at the Rumble, so all KO is doing is making that even. I'm sure by WrestleMania they will be friends again, but right now, KO's actions were consistent with their relationship IMO.
Men's Chamber was great yeah. Big fan of Gargano so glad he did well.

Fair play, that’s a fine explanation of it. I’ve not been following it overly closely in recent weeks/months. Felt a big night for Gargano, he needed something like that. |
