I think Muller was the player of the tournament or Rodriquez, love messi but Mascherano had more impact in the last 3 games than messi, Argentina weren't a million miles away, they had great chances but I think the best team won this tournament. Argentina need to dig another Riquelme out from somewhere, don't have any flair in midfield.

For all the previous World Cups I've watched since a kid, I've had a twinge of disappointment when they finished. I loved all the football being on and just wanted more and more, knowing it was over was a bit depressing.
This is the 1st one that I haven't really felt that, I just want it over so LVG can get involved and we can see some friendlies, get some idea of the players he wants, the formations and tactics he might use with us, see some of the youngsters get games under him (and feel confident that unlike He Who Must Not Be Named last summer won't dump them as soon as the actual season starts).
Excitement building.

I'd have given the golden testie's to Robben with Rodriguez in second. Robben is the best player in the world for me atm & gives me real hope that players turning 30 don't need to suddenly decline & lose all there speed. We should start to see players play well into their 30's & still be great players. How has he still got that pace? There was talk that he did the same as Giggs when he had injuries & really saved himself. That probably helps, slow down in your late 20's & learn to play a different way & save you legs. Messi's look shot as does Rooney's.

Munich fans used to call him glass legs because he was always injured but he's as fit as a flea these days, physical conditioning is everything at this level especially where longevity is concerned. Giggs was a prime example of that. I think Messi is suffering from fatigue, even ronaldo who is probably the best example of an athlete in the sport has broken down recently with injury. The amount of games these guys are playing takes its toll eventually.

Just got back from watching the game with Germans and a bit pissed. It's turned into mayhem so retreat was the best strategy. Until the goal the fans were wetting themselves. The Germans rode their luck and Higuain must be kicking himself. Not sure why Messi was golden bollocks but Neuer deserved the glove. I am pleased for Klose who has been a tremendous player. TV pundits calling Loew the greatest manager ever which is taking the piss since last week they called him a tactical donkey. Ear plugs and bed....

Anyone think its a bit odd to present the awards right there post final, what were they going to do... tell Rodriguez, Robben, etc to come observe the game and stick around to pick up your award? It must have to be someone in the finale itself. Horse and Pony show.

Can't wait for someone to use it in 20 years time when people are debating the next generation of greatest players.

The two awards looked like something Noel Edmunds used to give out with Mr blobby.

It must have to be someone in the finale itself. Horse and Pony show. I thought it was moronic. Have a presentation tomorrow or something. Let the World Cup final be about the World Cup. Messi winning player of the tournament is probably the most-widely acknowledged case of undeserved Messi-love ever.

Manuel Neuer (244) completed more passes at the World Cup than Lionel Messi (242).
