All seven loanees in action today:
Mame Diouf - Blackburn Diouf came on for the last half hour in Blackburn's 1-0 win over Everton. From what I've read he seemed to make a bit of an impact. "Got into good positions and held the ball up well." "He did well on his own, very raw but looked good. His speed is something else, and he was comfortable with the ball at his feet." "United's Diouf looks to have potential. "Played well on the counter. Gave Blackburn a really good outlet and could maybe have scored." "Made some good runs behind Everton's backline, looks a real threat with his pace and strength. Just needs to be more sharper infront of goal." They are quotes from United fans that watched the game.
Danny Welbeck - Sunderland Danny only came on for the last 10 minutes for his Sunderland debut in their 2-2 draw to Birmingham.
Matty James & Joshua King - Preston James played the full game as Preston got hammered 4-0 away to Swansea. Its good to see he is playing every game up there. King came on at half time. "With ten minutes to go King's pace was utilised as a clever long ball from Matt James found the onrushing striker, who lashed the ball across the goaline". Encouraging signs ther, I think King's pace and movement could prove to be vital in him making it at United. I can't understand how King didn't start after his very impressive showing mid-week. Fergie junior would want to get his act together or he could find himself out of the job, which may not be good news for our 2 loanees.
I've been chatting with a lad on a Prestone forum and he says he will give me regular updates on how the lads are doing throughout the season. He has this to say about them so far: "this King lad looks promising re okay Stockport are pretty poor but he ran them ragged for the spell that he was on the pitch + ran about 65 yards to create one of the goals - to me he looks hungry whereas when we had Wellbeck he looked disinterested and physically weak. James is a real star for the future - what quality for such a youngster but his Brother a full back on our books is rated by some to have more potential at this stage - think he is 16/17"
Danny Drinkwater - Cardiff Danny played the full game in Cardiff's 2-1 win away at Derby. "Danny Drinkwater would have brought the house down had his goal-bound effort not flown over Bywater's crossbar on the hour mark. The midfielder linked up superbly well with Chopra and Burke to find space inside the area, but perhaps rushed his effort when composure was what was needed."
Cameron Stewart - Yeovil Stewart made his Yeovil debut in a 2-1 loss away to Bristol Rovers, he was taken off after 76 minutes.
James Chester - Carlisle For the third game in a row Chester played the full 90 minutes. Carlisle drew the game 1-1 to Plymouth, conceding another late goal to draw the game. "Chester picked up the ball just outside the box, he dropped his shoulder and went past one challenge before unleashing a powerful shot that brought a parried save." Not bad for a centre half.

Not the best of weekends for the loanees. I hope to see more of Diouf and Welbeck next week but its all about if their managers pick them for the starting XI.

Hopefully Blackburn man up and play 4-4-2 at home against bottom 12 sides, because they sure as hell won't away.

Diouf and Welbeck is going to be a bit pointless if they don't start regulary, i hope the reason both only came on today was to ease them into the action.

Can't see Welbeck starting ahead of Campbell and Bent, and rumour has it that Bruce is tracking Asamoah Gyan, the Ghanaian striker, so it looks like it's going to be substitute appearances mostly for him, unless he really manages to impress when given the chance and forces Bruce to start him.

I can see Welbeck getting wing time on the right.

3:00 Kick-offs:
Starting: James & King (Preston vs Pompey), Chester (Carlisle vs MK Dons), Drinkwater (Cardiff vs Doncaster).
Bench: Welbeck (Sunderland vs WBA), Diouf (Blackburn vs B'ham). Cameron Stewart misses out for Yeovil with a thigh injury.

Yeah its dissapointing, hopefully he will gte more time than he did last week, so he can prove his worth. Very suprised Diouf is left on the bench again, after his decent showing last week.

I know what you mean, but seeing as its a game Sunderland can win, I thought that Brucey could manage to leave out his big players for the big matches. This will be a walk in a park for Sunderland and its a shame Welbeck isn't playing. Diouf will also get his time again soon.

Eventhough I am tipping Sunderland for the win, I think will earn it, west brom will be hurting from last week so I can see them putting in a decent display. The whole point of loan moves is to get regular first team football, so it will be a pure waste if neither of the two become regulars in the first team.
