Brock Lesner is a fat cunt Seriously?? C'mon, the guy might act like a tit most of the time but fat is one of the last words I'd use to describe him, he's a feckin powerhouse who runs over most of his opponents due to his freakish strength and speed. Couture against Toney was funny, how he thought he could come into a completely different discipline and compete at that level is beyond me and he just got embarassed. What you got to remember is this, in his day, Royce Gracie was submitting these so-called "powerhouses", for fun. He used their weight to his advantage, and it doesn't matter how much he weighs or how much muscle he has, if he is in a triangle choke hold with his own arm, then there is nowt much he can do.

Watch this performance v Akebono who was a very large competitor:

Lesner is a completely different proposition to the guy in that video, don't forget Lesner was a top class wrestler in his younger years and wouldn't be nearly as easy to catch in a move like that, that guy just lay on top of gracie, didn't utilise ground and pound at all, Lesner and his big ol' fists would make life uncomfortable for anyone.
I think you're doing a disservice to todays fighters to say they've gone downhill, the sport has evolved and most fighters are well rounded in all areas now so they can't just get taken down and submitted which is what seemed to happen a lot in the early days when the jujitsu specialists like Gracie got hold of them.
I'm not saying Gracie wouldn't be a success in the sport today but i think it's changed a lot since then.

I think you'll find that Dan "The Beast" Severn was a very good wrestler, who was also in the WWF at the same time as Ken Shamrock. Nevertheless, Royce Gracie made him tap out, no matter what skills Dan Severn had in ground and pound.

Sorry but that guy still aint Brock Lesnar and my whole point was to say the sport has evolved since then, Lesnar probably works on stand-up, wrestling, muay thai, bjj, and the rest to make sure he's as well rounded as possible, as do most fighters in mma these days, back when it was in it's infancy a lot of fighters were more specialised one area or another and could be caught out by someone like Gracie who was so good at what he did.
Once again, I'm not saying Gracie wouldn't cut it on mma today, far from it, he's a legend and largely responsible for the fact jujitsu is such a major part of the sport but for you to keep posting videos of him to jusitfy how the sport has gone downhill is ludicrous, he was part of the generation that brought mma into focus and helped it develop into what it is so to say it's gone downhill is disrespectful of what he and others worked towards and still contribute with their training and legacy.

It was probably all about the selling power of his fights, having him as a belt holder probably brings a lot more attention to the UFC and Dana White aint one to miss out on making money so it's no real suprise that it happened that way even if it was unfair. He's shown himself more than able to compete at that level so the fact Dana favours him shouldn't take away from the fact he's a legit champion. Also, $$$, Lesnar draws the big money, apart from Silva when not given a jobber, who else can bring a million-plus buys for a PPV in this day and age?

I agree to a certain point, but there are those who would have given Lesnar a good go i.e Bob Sapp and Jerome LeBanner.

I'm a big MMA fan but since the death of my laptop I'm way behind on everything. Before that I was up to date on UFC, WEC, Bellator, Strikeforce, Dream, Sengoku, etc.,etc.
So although I'm posting in this thread, I won't post anything of any interest until I actually know what's going on!

UFC 120 was last weekend, held at the O2 in London, a few english fighters on the card, only Bisping managed to get a win, well on the main card anyway, and Dan Hardy got brutally knocked out by Condit in the first round.
Next up is Lesner against Velasquez this weekend, should be interesting.

I'n praying that Velasquez downs Lesnar, had high hopes for Carwin doing it but he just blew himself out too early.

Why do you want Lesnar to fail? Just curious...

Why do you want Lesnar to fail? Just curious... Coz he's an ex-pro-wrestler probably, some people don't like that fake shit. Lesnar got obliterated Saturday but I feel his game-plan was off. If he gets a re-match he'll kill Cain.
