Just briefly read through the thread; I used to play basketball for my school as well - it used to be my main sport before football. In Centre, strangely though I'm not very tall, but I guess I'm good on the rebounds. Can't dunk either, but mostly did lay ups. Didn't ever play again since high school, although if the chance ever presents itself, I'd give it a go again!
Just like Bestie, I loved Jordan so much. He and Penny Hardaway of the Orlando Magic (1995-1999) were my favourites. The Bulls were my first team, while Orlando Magic was my second. Haha... similar to 7even, my interest in Jordan died off from the time he did Space Jam. Although the reason was not because of Space Jam, it was mainly because I started playing football and badminton lol.
Sadly, I haven't been keeping up with the NBA since I stopped playing. No clue as to who's who now. But I'm guessing Kobe is still in the game, and all my current player knowledge is only between LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Jeremy Lin and Yao Ming - who, I've heard retired?

Besides football, I am also a huge basketball fan. Been a Houston Rockets fan since the Yao ming/T Mac era. Hopefully they can end their title drought this year since Hakeem the Dream era.
All-Stars this weekend. Anybody watching?

I've been watching, i thought the dunk contest was the best in the while. I'm a Magic fan so vested interest as Oladipo was there. He did well for his 2nd place!
Shits about to hit the fan in the NBA. There is a strict wage cap that's pretty much going to get doubled next year so salaries will be massive and power shifts are expected around the league.

Zach levine's dunk were awesome! Oladipo did well. He could sing too. lol.
Didn't know there's gonna be a change in the wage cap. Care to explain further about it?

Yeah due to NBA renewing their TV rights they have made an absolute fortune. The cap is likely to grow by at least 45%. I genuinely cannot remember this big a climb ever. Teams will have the guts of an extra 30 million to play with, so you're talking about average players earning big wages and superstars potentially earning up to 30-40 million per year!!!! At first, teams will be able to add a big name to an already excellent team, but in five years time teams will be overpaying for middle road players

yikes. that's not good at all. I will read more into it. Will the fans be required to fork out more from their pockets to watch NBA games?

Nah I think it was the contract ended with TV and because everything has went up massively in other sports, they had to follow suit. For example look at the EPL. 2 billion - 5 billion is a massive difference. It'll be interesting regardless

So, any basketball fans here?
Basketball is my second favourite sport to follow after football probably. Love the NBA. Anyone else like hoops in this forum?
This year's Finals are going to be great I think. Golden State really should be able to seal the deal and win it. Splash brothers are unreal and their bench is so much more deep too.
But on the other hand LeBron has been playing out of his mind over the past few games. He single handedly won them the series over Atlanta, getting probably the greatest ever triple-double in playoff history.
Look forward to a fantastic series.

There is a thread in here by tatty called NBA etiquette, just underneath this. I think thats about basketball? I am not a basketball fan really.

Basketball fan residing in Cleveland. So you can imagine... Good on you. Must have enjoyed LeBron taking apart the Hawks piece by piece. Gotta say they completely bottled it with regard to their strategies. Horford was absolutely hard done by as well with his flagrant 2. Especially considering Howard got off easy with his karate chop.

Season starts again soon. Come on OKC, last chance to win it with Durant and my boy Russ!

It is indeed almost that time. Only a few short weeks before my Suns will most likely disappoint me for yet another season.
