Welcome on board mate. Yeah, Foxtel is the way to go, you get pretty much every game live so it's a "can't live without" essential for fanatics!
I live down south of Sydney, out in the sticks!
BTW, best introduce yourself on the newbies section where this sort of thread should be.
Look forward to your contributions!

My favourite memory is a League Cup game from 1992 between United and Boro
It was the Semi Final 2nd leg.
We set off across the pennines in a hired transit van, with 8 Boro fans in. We arrived in Manchester and it was belting down with rain. We arrived at the stadium and the atmosphere was already electric. As the players came on to the pitch, the weather didn't relent, it was turning in to a very wet evening. Sharpe scored the first in the bog at OT. Boro had chances before Slaven scored in the second half after great work by Ripley getting past Parker and putting the ball in to the box and Slaven put it past Schmeichel in front of the Boro fans. Pears made a good save late in to the 2nd half from Irwin.
Pally then hooked a Slaven chip off the line as it was heading in.
The Full Time whistle went and the Boro fans started singing YNWA which has never been sung since.
The 30 minutes extra time started with a near goal for Boro as Willie Falconer headed the ball in to the net only for the great dane to make one of his finest saves, a top corner claw away of a certain goal.
Then a young man named Giggs hit the all important winner late in ET to break Boro hearts. Once the match had finished, the United fans were great towards us. We were told it's been the best atmosphere at OT for a long time.
We even had Chubby Brown in the stand with us, as at the final whistle the boro fans were chanting You Fat B*stard at him.
We still talk about it when we are in Manchester.
Hard to think it was almost 20 years ago. How things have changed, Man Utd dominate England, win 2 CL finals and Boro win the League Cup.

How do you find the feel and the passion (or lack of) nowadays compared to games gone by DW?

The lack of passion was forced out many years ago. SKY and The FA have ruined a perfectly good sport. Back at 10 years old my dad took me to Roker Park(Sunderland) to see Man Utd play in a cup game(night match league cup maybe) and we were in the Sunderland main end. I'd never been so frightened in my life, it was full and everybody was singing, shouting and jumping around. In 1986(aged 12) i went to my first Boro game with my friends and we were in the Holgate End. We got to the stadium for the gates opening and watched the Holgate gradually fill up. By 2:50 it was full and i was stood behind a barrier. Anyway the match kicked off and the atmosphere was amazing, Come On Boro, Come On Boro was ringing through the Holgate. I can't remember who won but i do remember Boro scored and i got a bust nose(from the barrier) as the crowd surged forward. I stood in front of the barrier after that. Now if you go to the Riverside, you get a few renditions of Come On Boro and You Are My Boro but that's about it.
I believe in the Roy Keane prawn sandwich brigade theory but it's not just United, it's everywhere. I watched the victims play Norwich last weekend and the atmosphere was shocking. On the other hand Stoke City are an awesome crowd but they're still relatively new to the PL so the buzz is still there.
I always looked forward to going to The Riverside when United were in town. I'd sit in the next section to the away support and enjoy the vocal noise that the United fans brought with them. Same goes for the victims, they always brought a decent crowd with them.
It's only going to get worse the more the FA stick their noses in.
Hopefully standing at stadiums will be reintroduced in the future but i won't be holding my breath.

What has been the worst game you've attended DW? Whether it be lack of atmosphere, an atmosphere so strong it has been scary (like you mentioned above) a dull affair, fighting...

Worst game was Boro V Liverpool in 2003 then again in 2004. Both games ended 0-0 with NO shots on target and an afternoon in freezing cold weather. The atmosphere was shocking. Even the bin dippers couldn't be bothered.
Worst supporters atmosphere has to go to Arsenal in 2005 in the FA semi at Old Trafford. They were absolutely terrible. They couldn't out sing the Boro so stayed quiet right till the end of the game which they won 1-0 with a Festa O.G.
