Bit of a damp squib this year despite SSN trying their best to drum up excitement. Rioters that haven't been caught yet hanging around SSN reporters outside football grounds. Natalie Sawyer lookin fine as per usual.

Meireles has handed in a transfer request?
Leaving it a bit late isn't he?

Toss eh? Sat here whilst the BBC tell me to stay tuned as I won't want to miss anything spectacular. Quite surprised they've got Yossi. Never been reyt fond of him, but he always seems to get about and chip in with some goals, I'll give him that. Sneijder confirms he is staying with Inter. Meireles wants Chelsea move.

Just heard that Benayoun has signed for Arsenal. Wenger must have some sort of auto bid button that he's pressed!

He's a good player Meireles. Better than any of the midfielders Liverpool brought in, I'd argue.

Apparently the £40 million offer for Modric from Chelsea was £30 million plus Alex.

What is the point of having the window open for 2 months if everyone is going to try and cram their business into the last few hours? Open the damn thing for the first two weeks of July (August in a WC/Euros year) and that's it. No long drawn out transfer sagas, no tapping players up slowly and none of this will he won't he nonsense all summer long. Do your business and get on with your pre season in peace.

The big question is why do clubs leave it so late though? Its not they were forced to leave it to the last minute to do their business. As they said on sky sports news last night(i think it was them) its all brinkmanship by clubs - like Spurs and Chelsea - Spurs dont want to sell (unless they get a top price) so hold off and Chelsea dont want to pay the top price so hold off in the hope Spurs will lower their asking price. Then in the end theres panic buying from some clubs cos they were too stubborn to properly negotiate and end up paying way over the odds

Here's a question, does this mean Modric will be shit for the next few months until January? Or for the rest of his Spurs career because Chelsea got Meireles so might not need him? You know how his 'head isn't right'.

Roma have done some awesome business I just noticed. On deadline day, or close to it I assume, they tied up the following deals:
Fabio Borini - loan from Parma, can be made permanent for 7m euros Fernando Gago - loan from Madrid Simon Kjaer - loan from Wolfsburg Miralem Pjanic - 11m euros from Lyon
In addition to signings like Erik Lamela from River, Bojan from Barca and Steckelenberg from Ajax. They've lost a few of course (Mexes, Menez, Vucinic) but I'd say this has been a very productive window for Roma. I think Luis Enrique's men could go far this season.

Bit like PSG really - all that new money being put to use. Both teams should be in with a good shout of challenging for honours this season

You know how his 'head isn't right'. Hard to judge this, on one hand applaud the club for making a stance and preventing other players thinking they can fuck off when they want, on the other he's hardly going to be motivated to put in a shift is he.
