One of television's finest achievements. In every sense a masterpiece. And it also features the greatest character ever created for television in Omar. Wish I'd never see it so I could watch it from scratch again.....

I have all 5 series on DVD, among many other full series sets.
The Wire is absolutely excellent from beginning to end. A must-see series!
Omar is The Man!

Quite simply, the best tv series ever produced. I loved the Sopranos, but this is even better.

i've just finished season 5, and it's left me cold that I'm finished with it and have seen it all.
Is it one of those series that you watch through again in a few years time ?

I am downloading season 1 right now. As I'm a bit of an addict for TV series I'll probably watch season 5 in a few days

Off topic, but anyone watch the recently released HBO miniseries Game of Thrones? Brilliant. I've finished all 10 episodes in less than a week and now I need to wait till April next year for the second series (2nd of 7 hopefully). Gutted. www.imdb.com/title/tt0944947/

Hasn't even released the 5th book yet Martin takes his time the first book was written 96. Cracking set of books, I've only seen the first 2 episodes to series but it looks like an excellent adaptation.

The 5th book was released today ;D
The next couple of seasons probably wont follow each book to rigidly, theres some overlap with 2&3 and a hell of a lot going on. Well worth the read though, I powered through 1500 pages on my holiday.

Yes Jim. You can totally return to it. yeah i guess so. i mean even watching series 4 and 5, with a break of about a year since i'd finished series 3, i'd forgotten who people were, and even in series 5 i was learning peoples names that i'd never clocked previously, like some of the higher ups in the Police Department. They don't spoon feed the audience with constant recaps, subtle or not, about whos who and whats what do they. so yeah maybe a second watch through will be in order anyone who hasn't watched it yet don't get me wrong it's easy enough to follow the main characters and the plots, but there is a big supporting cast who get as much TV time as the main guys do so there's a lot going on.
