www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011/jul/07/ricky-hatton-retirement Former two weight champion Ricky Hatton has retired from Boxing. Don't know why he waited this long to confirm it. Very good fighter in his prime, but was found wanting at world class level. Matthew always had more sense than Ricky. Matthew's a Red. Enjoys your pies Ricky!

Not a surprise really. Had a good career until he got out classed by mayweather and after the pacquiao fight, he was never coming back. Best of luck to him.

He was a good british champion, couldn't make the big step up to the big time in America do!
Maybe if he stayed away from drink and possibly drugs he would of been a much better champion and may still be fighting today.

Thought he'd already retired in all honesty.
Obviously had his demons in recent years but he'll be remembered as a good and popular fighter.

There's no shame in having the ambition, belief and cojones to take on someone better than you. He was a good boxer who met his limit when he came up against Mayweather. Same with Haye really.

Give him 3 years before he's making a sad "Tyson style" comeback, thinking of nothing more than a pay day or 2 because he's wasted his money on booze, drugs and pies. Shame, even though he's a stinking blue, still liked him. Good memory of the Mayweather fight, I'd only been in Oz a week or so when that happened, at about 2 o clock on a Sunday afternoon, what a days drinking that was

He never would have made it again after such a lengthy lay off and a body fuelled with Guinness and narcotics. At least he won't be remembered for avoiding fights like so many other boxers.
