NOT Prometheus.
One big Chekov's Gun. 3D is freakin' awesome though, the clarity and detail were breath-taking.

Is it really that bad bestie? I was going to catch it this weekend but looking at all the negative reviews I don't think I will.

Got drunk the other weekend and watched The Sting for about the 100th time.
Superb movie, absolute classic. Newman and Redford are both fantastic and the soundtrack is top rate.
Don't want to come across all old man like, but the old classic movies really piss on pretty much anything that's coming out today, and there's a lot today that I do enjoy.
If you haven't ever seen it, strongly recommend you do. 10 oscar nominations, 7 wins, and a 91% rating on rotten tomatoes, all fully deserved.

Prometheus is a really good film I thought. Fassbender was excellent in it.

Totally agree. @ tatty - Really? I thought the whole thing seemed disjointed and haphazard. There were a bunch of things that I didn't really understand why they happened or what relevance they had to the progression of the film. Fassbender was good, in fairness, but some of the stuff the character did just confused me. Was it billed as [SPOILER: An Alien prequel?], or did that just happen at the end? Also, was it supposed to be a horror? I didn't find it that scary or atmospheric.

I really liked Prometheus, it was good sci-fi even if there were some plot holes and slightly disjointed pacing. I really liked the fact it was about the bigger ideas in the 'Alien' universe, as most of the other films tended to focus on the back alleys of the universe with miners, grunts and smugglers. Prometheus laid some groundwork to really flesh out the lore and I like that. Really needs a sequel though.
It definitely was a prequel though Bestie. This was about the dead pilot we saw in the ship in the original Alien film.

Also, I remember Scott saying that Prometheus wasn't/isn't a direct prequel to the first Alien film, merely just filling in the gaps before the first film. The thing in that film that bugged me was the technology was more advanced than the original 3 films which are all set 50 years+ in the future...

Dazjoe, in relation to the Sting. Did you say a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes? Which fucking idiots gave that a negative rating?!! About as close to a perfect movie as you'll get for that genre. Loved William Goldman as a screenwriter. His books on the subject are actually fascinating and well worth checking out. Easy reads, very educational and extremely funny.

Rotten Tomatoes isn't a website reviewing crap movies. It reviews all movies. Red tomato symbols mean good - green splatted tomatoes means bad. So the 91% is a good rating, provided it has a red tomato next to it, which it does

I know exactly what Rotten Tomatoes is.. 90% is a good score normally but it not for a movie as good as The Sting, particularly when Moonrise Kingdom, MI4 and Coriolanus are all currently ranked higher. Which is a complete nonsense.

Generally older movies lose their ratings over time, there are exceptions of course. Anything over 90% on RT can be considered pretty outstanding and differences above this is usually down to objective opinions I rate.
Moonrise Kingdom is awesome though Stew.

I like Anderson a lot but I boycott Jason Schwartzman Jay. So I haven't seen a few of his movies. Is he in this one?
