Gonna do the Leonardo DiCaprio American Greed trilogy over the next few weeks. Django Unchained, Great Gatsby, Wolf of Wall Street - charting the move from a society with strict (but completely warped) morals, to one with none at all.

The Comeback Trail is better than most reviews suggest. I enjoyed it.

Last Flag Flying was very good. Surprised I'd not heard of it previously considering the cast (Bryan Cranston, Steve Carell, Laurence Fishburne) really well acted, recommend it.

If you like that check out Beautiful Boy with Mr Carrell. Father coping with his sons addiction, well done and the most accurate portrayal of modern opiate addiction I’ve ever seen in Hollywood.

I really wanted to like this film but I couldn’t get into it at all. I like Carell a lot, but I think the kid who played his son was too clean cut. Going through all of that while remaining clean shaven was a stretch.

Comfortably Numb by Van Morrison and 'the Band' is easily in my top five tracks of all time. Adore it. Brilliant film. Never heard this version! Its now currently blasting out of my speakers!

Just saw Suicide Squad. Shite. Yeah I want to know which DC/WB Exec decided that the Suicide Squad franchise needed a fucking reboot. They're filled with morons in that studio.

The original one was utter garbage. This one wasn’t as bad as that. I can sort of get why people would like the new one, but for me, between Guardians and Deadpool, you’ve seen this joke done better. And even the sequels of those two films fell flat. Add to that The Boys on Prime which is the same gag again but taken to a bigger extreme. I think the whole genre needs a fucking rest to be honest, but especially this little sub-genre of weird sweary “comedy” ones.

Just been watching From Russia With Love, one of my favourites ,featuring one of the best fights (on a train) between Robert Shaw and Connery, who sussed out that he was an evil Russki because he chose Chianti with the fish, classless muppet 😂😂

Decided to have a mooch through the movie libraries on the various apps and watch something I'd never heard of and/or seen. Ended up watching "The Wind That Shakes the Barley". Drama set around the Irish War of Independence. Cillian Murphy in it.
Thought it was a tough but great watch.

Drama set around the Irish War of Independence. Cillian Murphy in it. Thought it was a tough but great watch. Also grossly historically inaccurate. Indeed. If anything it let the Tans off far too lightly. There were infinitely worse atrocities perpetuated by the cunts which could have been shown. And let’s not forget those other toe rags, the auxiliaries. However, Loach did skew something badly for his movie- the 1922 treaty did have popular favour in the South, as was proven by it being passed in the Dail. The idea that it was forced unwillingly on Irish people is plain wrong and an obvious ploy to get an audience’s side of the anti-treaty side, headed by Murphy. As is usually the case, things were far more complicated than that.
