Decided to have a mooch through the movie libraries on the various apps and watch something I'd never heard of and/or seen. Ended up watching "The Wind That Shakes the Barley". Drama set around the Irish War of Independence. Cillian Murphy in it. Thought it was a tough but great watch. I’m genuinely curious- I’m presuming you’re English, right? Did you know much about the Irish War of Independence going into the movie?

Did you know much about the Irish War of Independence going into the movie? Shamefully not. Very little anyway. I've heard of the Black and Tans and such but could've told you next to nothing about them. Suppose that was one of the reasons why it caught my eye. I'm keen on history and it sounded interesting, which I guess sounds a little ignorant to some of you fellas, who I'm assuming this is more personal for. Aware that TV shows and movies aren't the ideal place to learn about things as complex as this but find they're often a good starting point in terms of peaking your interest on a subject matter and wanting to learn more. Also must admit that seeing Cillian Murphy was in it was enough to make me wanna watch, as he doesn't do much shit. Viewing from a purely wanting to watch a movie point of view.

Michael Portillo did a programme recently about it which was very well done I thought. Told it more from the British perspective through letters and diaries which was interesting. I’ll try and dig it up if you like?

Good god, Liam Neeson has served up some tripe recently, but The ice road really takes it to another level. The grey was bad, but my word, this is fucking terrible.

Have you lads seen the documentary about Theranos?
Utterly mind blowing, in that woman's pathological capacity to lie. Now she's claiming she was abused.
Makes me stop and ask - did none of those fuckers think to ask for a fucking working demonstration?

Just watched No Time to Die. Spoiler-free sentiment: I hated it. Big spoiler: You just don't kill Bond. You fucking don't. This is why Boyle left, he was right to. Loved the direction, thought the acting was great, the cinematography was fantastic. But the story decision to kill him was a shocker, and giving him a daughter was a poor call too. (Reminder - if you quote this post, when writing the comment my spoilers will be revealed.)

Just watched No Time to Die. Spoiler-free sentiment: I hated it. I wasn't going to watch it anyway, and in my head the Bond films stopped at 20, but OH MY GOD THAT IS FUCKING HORRIFIC.
