Sir Alex ponders Pogba debut
Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to hand Paul Pogba a first-team debut in the Carling Cup and will consider several other promising reserves for the trip to Leeds.
The boss plans to integrate Pogba into his squad this term after he had a taste of senior action in Paul Scholes' testimonial, coming as a substitute for the retiring legend.
"Pogba's in the first-team training set-up now," he told Inside United when asked how much he planned to use the France Under-19 midfielder. "So that's the first step.
"After that, it'll likely depend on when we decide to make changes. He'll probably be involved in the League Cup and that'll be his chance to establish himself in the squad."
Pogba, speaking to French magazine 10 Foot whilst away on international duty, feels he is getting closer to realising a dream of playing at the top level.
"Every day I’m aiming for the first team," he stressed. "Sir Alex gave me confidence by picking me for the pre-season game against Marseille in August. So I know I’m on the right track.
"Everyone at the club is great – they look after young players well. We have a laugh and there’s a special atmosphere.

Good good, I got a little worried when he wasn't in the CL squad, but that probably meant nothing anyway. Can't wait to see him playing in a decent strength first team.

If he continues to develop like he has been then this kid will be totally bossing midfields in a few years' time. Hopefully Ferguson won't go all out on youth for the CC game against Leeds, he probably won't to be fair. Would like to see Pogba along-side a more experienced midfielder there like Carrick or Fletcher, just to bring some assurance next to a guy who is still a pretty raw talent.

19 years of age and is on the fringe of breaking into the senior team, impressive!
Hope he doesn't flop against Leeds.

Me too. I've been hearing for a year now what an exciting talent he is, but I didn't have a chance to watch him play besides New York Comos game (where he looked very good). Can't wait for tomorrow!

www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2011/Sep/Paul-Pogba-primed-for-Leeds-debut.aspxFrench prospect Pogba picked up a slight knock in the Reserves' 2-1 win against Rochdale last Thursday but is in line for his senior debut. Although it promises to be a hostile occasion, Sir Alex has no qualms about fielding the talented midfielder. "He's got a slight injury," the boss said, speaking at the launch of the club's new partner, Malaysian snack giants Mister Potato. "It's not too bad, though. So he wasn't available for Sunday but he should be able to play on Tuesday and I intend to play him against Leeds United." !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent news. We have a number of promising youngsters coming through, plus other players needing game time, so we're likely to play a strong team.
Hopefully OWen and Berbatov can get a run out too.

Can't help but think that the right thing to do might have been to farm him out on loan,if not for the season at least until January??

Can't help but think that the right thing to do might have been to farm him out on loan,if not for the season at least until January?? i dunno. he is still a bit young. maybe it might be too much for him. got to remember he has only been in the country for what, 2 years, so all he knows is manchester united. maybe a loan deal in january might do him some good but i wouldnt be suprised to see him stay

Agree he is a great potential but giving him football in easy/comfortable environment may not bring him on quite so quickly. A season @ Wigan worked wonders for TC,if we were to farm him out to another premiership club like we did with TC he would probably develop quicker playing regular for them than occasionly for us when games are won.
