I would feel happier if we bought Clyne because then in a way it would show that we are capable of purchasing players if needs be.
At the moment I am dubious as to whether or not we're 'allowed' to spend in a way.

I cant see us buying anyone expensive until after the club is floated on the Asian market as the gimps will want the books looking as attractive as possible, the likes of Clynne though wouldnt put much of a dent in the coffers as his wages would be 20k or less, considering we have just offloaded 40k with Gibsons sale.

Wolves declaring their interest today in Clyne, also Bolton bidding for Zaha. Will be interesting to see if we do end up moving for him.
Going to Palace Brighton game tomorrow night so will be interesting to see if either play or disappear straight after the game.

If Bolton go for Zaha we should surely at least be inquiring. And we could do worse than signing Clyne ahead of Wolves. Look at what happened with Ash Young - obviously talented, went for £9 million, we pay almost double a few years later.*
*Alternatively, insert name of oneof the many players who have moved for little fees then we've bought/wanted them for over-odds extortion a short while later.

So we should buy every player who shows abit of promise to avoid maybe paying more down the line IF they come good? And if they dont the fans will then be giving out about the club wasting money on the player in the first place. Yet everyone is also fed up of United being linked with players for the future because they want to see an established player come in. And we are to do this on limited money too? Right.....

I agree with Bestie on this one. Zaha and Clyne have obvious talent. No way we can loose money on these players in the long term. I think Clyne could be another Kyle Walker in the making. I think he can make giant strides. Put it on record: I think Zaha is going to be a 15 million + player in a few years.

Zaha looks like Victor Moses, masses of talent, piss poor football brain.

Pretty much actually, yeah. Look at Obertan, we took a punt, it didn't work out, we sold him for money. No real harm nor foul. I'd rather we shell out £5-10 million now rather than £15 million+ in three years as usual. Both because apparently we don't want to give our own youngsters a chance/they aren't ready yet, and because I sincerely doubt our financial clout to buy the top, established names. At this stage I'd be over the moon with an acknowledgement we need change in the centre of midfield and actually doing something about it. I heard the Ballack rumours and actually realised I wasn't dismissing it a totally insane for a wee while yesterday evening. That's how desperate I am to see us act on improving/admitting the central midfield castastrophe. Zaha looks like Victor Moses, masses of talent, piss poor football brain. I'd argue awareness can be taught by training and experience. And who better than Scholes when he retires again at the end of the season? Not to mention being around the likes of Berbatov on a daily basis. Re. the talent, I refer you to my above remarks!

Ballack? Missed that one thank god.
Who knows whats happening? Maybe Fergie has been waiting for the green light from players/clubs on certain players - i.e. Hazard. Maybe hes waiting to be sure he's got rid of aload of deadwood before spending - i.e Gibbo, Diouf, etc and then maybe Macheda, Park, Ando, PIG, etc in the summer?
The minute he comes out and acknowledges that hes in the market is the minute city, psg, chelsea, etc slap 60mill bids in for every fucking player.
And we all know how he likes doing deals on the quiet for the following summer after the transfer window has closed.

Metro understands that United are currently putting the finishing touches to a pre-contract agreement for Clyne, that would see him join the Red Devils when his Palace contract expires in the summer, ending a six month pursuit for one of the Championship's brightest prospects. United have been following Clyne ever since he broke into the Palace first-team at the age of 17, and made their move in January when the 20-year-old indicated he would not be signing a new deal at Selhurst Park. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson was confident he could get his man, only for the player's agent to pull the plug on a switch to Old Trafford at the last minute, believing better terms would be offered as a free agent in the summer. The decision annoyed Ferguson, but he has maintained an interest, and after instructing United chief executive David Gill to resurrect a transfer last week, he now looks like finally landing the England Under-21 youngster, with pre-contract talks ongoing. As Clyne is under the age of 23, Palace will be eligible for training compensation from United, but with the Premier League champions fearing lengthy negotiations and even a tribunal to decide an amount, they will offer £2.5 million straight up in the hope a deal can be sorted out quickly. I'd argue awareness can be taught by training and experience. to an extent, but we've seen examples at united of players who have been there a number of years who still look like they are missing a bit between the ears. i'd agree with tatty from what i've seen of zaha he looks well short of a football brain. he's got 'wigan signing' written all over him

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has not given up hope of keeping Nathaniel Clyne, but admits he would have no problem in the full-back joining Manchester United.
United have been strongly linked with a move for the 20-year-old when his contract at Selhurst Park expires at the end of the season.
Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to have been impressed by Clyne during Palace's shock Carling Cup win over United earlier this season and he is thought to be in the market for a new right-back.
Parish insists the offer of a new contract remains on the table, but he concedes he would not begrudge Clyne the chance to move to Manchester United if they came calling for him.
Offer
"We haven't agreed anything with anybody and we still have a contract offer on the table for Nathaniel," Parish told the London Evening Standard.
"We have a good relationship with both him and his agent and I think he is enjoying his football here and can see the club are going forward.
"But if there is a deal to be done with Manchester United, it would be hard to stand in the kid's way. If our young players are to leave, then at least we want them to go onto something bigger and better - and Manchester United are who they are. " Steve Parish on Nathaniel Clyne Quotes of the week
"But if there is a deal to be done with Manchester United, it would be hard to stand in the kid's way. If our young players are to leave, then at least we want them to go onto something bigger and better - and Manchester United are who they are.
"But he is playing brilliantly at the moment and is at a good place with the team and under Dougie Freedman's management.
"If he keeps on playing as he is then I'm sure that a lot of teams will be interested in signing him but we are working together here and it's all positive at the moment."
