He's got tons of talent but doesn't really fit into the way we play. This is the main point. Nobody's doubting Berba's ability but it's obvious that he just doesn't figure in Fergies plans. Berba's 31, he needs to play regularly elsewhere.

Easy. Don't sign van Persie and Hernandez never starts. Chicharito has to start games. How else are we going to raise our market value in Mexico and make more money for the Glazers?

right, traff. I love Berbatov but do people think he's a better player than Van Persie at this stage? You guys must think Ferguson is the biggest idiot in the world if you rate Berbatov this highly and he played so little last year. He's got tons of talent but doesn't really fit into the way we play. this. can't believe bestie still thinks berba should be an automatic choice at this stage as if he hasn't had enough chances. it's heart over head stuff from you bestie.

When did I say Berbatov should be an automatic choice? I didn't. But he should start ahead of Hernandez, right up top with Rooney in behind him, where we should have played him his entire United career but haven't. And spell with Welbeck for starts.
If we didn't sign van Persie, obviously.
Hernandez is raw, really, really raw. His overall game is, quite frankly, shite. Finishing is brilliant, and knack for finding space in the box is unreal. Hernandez is a real poacher. But we don't play for a real poacher, we need more from our strikers than that because we expect midfielders to get into the box and support and our strikers to pull defences out of position. We need our strikers to be able to hold the ball up in the final thrid so we can get our midifelders around them in support. Berbatov gives you that in spades more than Hernandez. So does Welbeck, but I'm not 'heart over head' for him so I guess that doesn't matter.
Hernandez offers poaching, and a fear of pace. Berbatov, if we'd let him can offer far, far more.

Think Chicharito might be his own worst enemy when it comes to his play. Willing to bet he makes darting runs past defenders all the time in training, leaving him 1v1 with the keeper. Which is why United always look to force the ball over the top in real games. Should play it to the touchline more and look for a decent ball in. Utilise his heading ability. When did I say Berbatov should be an automatic choice? I didn't. But he should start ahead of Hernandez, right up top with Rooney in behind him, where we should have played him his entire United career but haven't. Always liked the idea of Hernandez up top with Dimi as a 2nd striker/attacking mid. "Berba collects the ball on the edge of the box, skips past a mid away from goal. Squared through ball collected by Valencia, bursting down the right. Cross. Hernandez with space. Header. Goal!"

Just a quick one on Hernandez....I think that if he gets a good few starts, he will work well with Kagawa, who has the ability to play those defence-splitting passes that Hernandez can run onto....it's then a matter of not straying offside...easier said than done..

My thoughts summed up. He doesn't fit into our style of play and tbh I don't know why people keep banging on about how he should be starting. He shouldn't.

Hernandez offers poaching, and a fear of pace. Berbatov, if we'd let him can offer far, far more.priceless. you are obviously in on the conspiracy, the one where Ferguson decideds to screw berbatov. let's buy him for nearly 30 million quid, AND NOT LET HIM PLAY PROPERLY! he's had enough chances and enough runs in the side, from day one when tevez was stuck on the bench to make way. when are you going to accept it just never worked, and it's not the club fucking him over?

hernandez offers more than poaching and pace. his movement gives the defence not a moments peace, rooney remarked straight away that he made a huge difference to the attacking set up.
you watch him go next season, kagawa feeding him in.

Paddy Crerand always says it during games and I agree, Chicha doesn't need to stray off as much as he does with the sheer pace he has. He should give the last defender a yard start.

Have to agree. Berbatov has had his chance, I'm fairly sure whenever he's played a majority of the time Fergie has wanted him to play right up top, he doesn't though. He drops back and generally slows down play, the opposite of what Fergie wants. It's Rooney who plays in the deeper position behind the striker, this is why we need someone up top like Welbeck / Chico who can play on the last man.

I tend to think he dropped back so much to receive the ball as he wasn't getting the service he requires from midfield. If we'd had Kagawa a few years ago he'd have had a shot. In any case, water under the bridge.

Have to agree JimBonda! The season before last when we won the league and got to CL final Hernandez was a huge part of this. Our style chnaged to one with real pace in attack where defenders were scared shitless to push up the field. Rooney had far more space as a result. Berba is a wonderful talent no doubt but not the 30 mill player I thought he would be. To say his Chico's overall game is shite is utter nonsense. Again this is not only our opinion but also the opinion of the gaffer and the coaching staff. When berba was left out of the CL final squad he should have walked that summer. There has been no real way back since
