Serie A - Genoa have sacked their manager Alberto Malesani after they lost at the weekend and the supporters ran onto the pitch to demand the shirts off the players backs. There have been so many changes in management this season its not funny. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011%E2%80%9312_Serie_AAlberto Malesani's name appears in the "Outgoing Manager" column 3 times this season! Twice for being sacked by Genoa! First on 22nd December 11 and then yesterday - 22nd April 2012. Bloody hell!

i used to love a bit of serie A, til the late 90's / turn of century. sundays were all about watching a game on channel 4, gazetta football italia with james richardson...awesome stuff.
these days i'd rather watch the test card than sit through any of it, italian football has no soul.

Meanwhile, over in Germany: Cologne issued an official apology on Monday after two club supporters attacked Bayer Leverkusen's Michal Kadlec and broke the defender's nose. Czech international Kadlec was attacked early on Sunday outside a nightclub where he had been with team mates following their 1-0 win over Hoffenheim and needed surgery on Monday to fix his broken nose, Bayer Leverkusen said. Leverkusen said the attackers were listed in a hooligan directory as Cologne supporters, prompting an apology from their regional rivals. uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/23042012/2/cologne-apologise-fan-attack-leverkusen-kadlec.html

UEFA are more concerned with stopping the English competing at a high level to worry about Serie A.
Its an utter disgrace that serie A can continue to operate as a mafia plaything.
But then UEFA are a mob as well, so the boys club continues.
I tell you what, all hell will break lose if Chelsea beat Barcelona, UEFA won't be able to contain their dismay, but I suspect some dodgy decisions tomorrow right.

Ah just a few bits i came across. While i dont religously follow other teams/leagues i do look at results and tables during the season, usually watch the Eurogoals roundup on Eurosport on a Monday and read a few bits that catch my eye.
Helps relieve the boredom of a monday, and in this week in particular, take my mind off the derby.

Serie A's been pretty good this year I think.
Juve are a joy to watch, largely because of Pirlo.

Totally agree tommy, Serie A (and last season) has been good. Maybe not James Richardson on a Sunday afternoon good, but very enjoyable.

Serie A might not be the best league to watch but tactically its still a very good league. Alot of big clubs in italy and junventus are real shouts for the scudetto this year, im sure they will be looking to invest heavily in the summer, very good young team with some good senior pros. Personally id rather watch german or spanish football because I do think theres more emphasis on attacking football than playing chess and feeling eachouter out like in italian football. Uefa don't surprise me. There furious about the extortionate prices thats keeping many fans away from ukraine and poland in the summer but you never hear this stuff from them about the crazy prices we have to pay to watch united. When it affects there coofers its a different matter of course. Hypocrites the lot of them. I was hoping being one of the great players platini would do good things for football but he's been quite disappointing.

I was gutted when we weren't linked with Pirlo last Summer. Would've been perfect for us.

Lower league teams tend to do pretty well in continetal cup comps. Probably to do with the big boys not taking them seriously, but still, always good to see a proper underdog get to a final.
