I hope it's a couple of years away. I'm nowhere near ready for it as I'm not over the shambles that was that final season.

D&D leaving Starwars already is hilarious. They knew, and more importantly Disney knew, that if their Starwars films were anything less than sensational they would get crucified, and rightly so. They half-arsed the final seasons of GoT to move on to the big Starwars bucks, but in doing so made their job impossible. They undermined their own careers.
The Naomi Watts prequel has already been binned off. It's surprising in the sense that they were already quite far along with the project, but it's not that surprising because it was based around the White Walkers, which D&D made irrelevant by fucking up the ending of GoT. Their ending on the show was such a damp squib that it's almost impossible to base a show around them now.
GoT has gone from being the hottest commodity in television to being almost an afterthought in just a few months. If HBO are going to rekindle interest in the series and cash in, then the Targaryen civil war is definitely the way to go. Give us dragons!

Damon Lindelof is a fantastic writer but can sometimes get lost down the rabbit hole.

I thought they'd cancelled it?

Different prequel. The other intended one was supposed to centre around The Night King I think.

Time to dust this thread off for HotD, or just use the TV thread? I'm a few minutes into episode 1. Looks spectacular.

Was going to watch it tonight but won't have time. Looks fabulous. Got ready for it by rewatching GoT recently. Ending still shit but much easier to appreciate the absolute majesty of much of the show, this looks like it's going to live up to it from what I've seen so far.

Brilliant opening episode of House of the Dragon. I'm all in! It certainly was a good start. Yep little to dislike. Helps when you've got another great cast of core actors. Looks like they've found that good balance between familiarity with GoT, whilst also making it feel very different. From that first episode at least. Fully expecting to be obsessing over this like I did with like I did with GoT within a couple of episodes.

Really enjoyed the first episode. That one scene (you know the one) was very painful to watch, as hard as any GoT scene (apart from the illogical end of course).
