His goal was absolutely tremendous should have got MOTM in my opinion was good in defence and attack ,and made some really important headers inside the box the one after Linde made a save was vital . His tackling has improved immensely. Against Southampton, he won all 4 of his tackles. He has yet to pick up a card in the PL and in CL. Across all games, he was won more aerial duels than he has lost. He has scored 2 goals in 4 PL appearances as a fullback, one a weak-footed finesse and the other off an aerial duel. In 3 out of 4 PL games, he has been the most influential player on the pitch for United, which means he had the most touches of any of our players on the pitch. He has over 5 take-ons and has not lost a single one. He has one Man of the Match in a fullback position. Rafael's development is amazing. Already, he looks much more responsible than in previous years and the Brazilian in him is starting to show through his dribbling skills. His runs into the box have been very controlled and he is making better decisions with the ball at his feet. Opta stats . Please trust that I'm not bullshitting you. www.whoscored.com/Players/4092How come no one has a gif of his class goal against our most hated rivals Moc ?

Someone did use a gif of his goal as a sig - can't remember who though. Oh wait, it's Moc who has it. Rafael has been really good. He's in brilliant form. I still think we should get a back up RB and push Rafael to the wings from time to time. I think he will thrive there. Have been saying that for almost 2 years now.

Rafael's actually a really good tackler, yes he get's caught out of position every now and then, but he's quick enough to recover. Hopefully it's something we can work on with him over the course of the season. as far as i can see he needs to work on three big areas > his concentration in the box. he's prone to a bit of ball watching and letting his man give him the slip. against everton in the 4-4 this was costly to say the least > his discipline - you don't need to go through someone on the halfway line when you've made them turn back to face their own goal and give away cheap free kicks > getting beaten too easily by wingers - he seems to either commit too early or get caught wrong footed. hopefully a lot of it comes with age and experience, it's all mental though so lets hope he's got the marbles and the capacity to learn this stuff or he'll never be a good defender his attacking game on the flip side seems to be maturing and now i can actually see him possibly becoming one of those marauding full backs who scare the shit out of opposition defences

His ball-watching is HORRENDOUS at times. Really amatuer. That can be fixed though.

I've not checked the link but Nani has just signed that deal?? Yes he has but the suggestion in the link is that the deal is to make sure he didn't leave more cheaply as he was getting towards the end of his contract...

Insane article. Nani just signed a 5 year deal and Rafael is one of, if not the best right back in England. So yeah, lets sell him.

Manchester United full-back Rafael hopes to remain at Old Trafford for the rest of his career.
The Brazilian was joined by his brother Fabio, a fellow defender, when he first moved to Manchester from Fluminense in 2008.
His sibling has since headed to Cardiff, but Rafael became a first-team regular under Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes, and now the 24-year-old wants to impress latest manager Louis van Gaal.
The Dutchman, who ruthlessly cut loose some of his fringe players in the transfer window, will have the final say on whether Rafael is worthy of an extension to his current contract, which is due to expire at the end of next season.
"I am glad I am still here, but sad because a lot of friends have left," he told United Uncovered. "I want to keep going and stay here forever, if possible.
"It depends on me to play well, I need to play well. I just want to stay here.
"I came here at 15-years-old so I have to say that I feel at home here.
"I can never say enough about this club. It is one of the best clubs in the world, if not the best in the world."
Although diminutive in size, Rafael's role at United has been a big one since Gary Neville hung up his boots in 2011.
Upon his retirement, the former England defender earmarked Rafael as the man to succeed him in the position he occupied at the club for over a decade.
Ferguson once said Rafael trained "like a beast", but the defender now has a fresh responsibility at the club - one of mentor.
"When I first came here, I saw how a lot of players helped me like Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes," he said.
"Gary Neville, even though he played in my position, helped me a lot because he was one of the best right-backs in the world.
"I want to do the same when I see some young players come in. Sometimes it's difficult so my job is to try to help them.
"Before, I saw some players arriving, foreign players, and they just cannot understand anything and I was exactly the same.
"Sometimes, I still want to say: 'What are they saying?' It's so hard and I try to help them because I know how difficult that is."
Rafael, who made his first appearance of the season in last Sunday’s 4-0 thrashing of QPR, has won the Premier League three times and is desperate to bring back the glory days.
"I want to win the league again and I want us to get the winning way back," he said.
"Then everything will be like it's always been at this club."
---
This is why I love this lad. Puts his heart into the club like Gary did before him.
