The 'power ups' make it sound less like a footie sim and more like an arcade game imho

FM '11: Just won the European Cup with Schalke in my 6th season with them. Beat Real in the final 2-1, luckiest result of the whole thing as we got battered and Benzema scored an O. G. but our results up to the final deserved it I feel. (1-1 at the Stadio Del Alpi, 3-0 at home 1st K.O. stage; 1-1 away to Benfica away and 3-0 at home in the quarters; won 3-0 away to reigning Champions Palermo but lost 1-0 at home in the semi-final to go through 3-1.)
Also, my 22 year old CM has been appointed Germany captain; I just managed to buy a 15 year old striker my scouts rate as potentially 4 1/2 stars from Leverkusen and I've finally landed a French left winger who has 4 stars potential after he was on loan at Crystal Palace so I couldn't bid all last year.
All in, I don't care about FM '13 right now!!!

In my game he retired and became a coach at Hartlepool, my old club. G. Nev is United manager and we've won the League like 7 years straight or something ridiculous. Shearer is managing Chelsea, Rio was a coach for Galatasary for a while, and is now somewhere in England. Vidic is in the Utd reserves at 36, Berbatov is there as well at about the same age. He's retiring next summer. John Terry is Stockport manager.

I was England manager for a while and took Giggs as my Assman. At United, didn't renew Phelan's contract and promoted Meulensteen to Assman. Just before I left England, I sacked Giggs from England duties and hired Phelan (because I pitied him for sacking him) and ran away. Also, Berbatov and Carrick is at Newcastle which just got relegated; Rooney moved to Inter for £60million; Vidic is still my captain.

Mark Hughes is at Sampdoria! Just remembered, noticed because they're one of my loan clubs. Kevin Phillips (bit of a hero in my successive promotions Hartlepool side way back when) is managing Darlington. Danny Murphy is at Crewe (and terrible), Damien Duff just got sacked and replaced by MANCINI for not getting European Cup at Everton. Gordon Strachan is managing AC Milan, where Fletch is captain. Park went to Sunderland, there are other pretty interesting things. Stuart Pearce just took over as Forest manager, which is annoying as they are a loan club of mine, literally just picked them about two weeks before he took over.
Jamie Carragher was playing for Hull in League 1, then their reserves, last I checked.

Enjoying it so far but it's a lot tougher than FM2012. The main thing I'm struggling with is team talks; there's a few more muted reaction to team talks and I find some of the players have really illogical responses on occasion. Still, despite that I have just won the league with United. Knocked out early on in the League Cup (which City went on to win sadly) but doing well in the FA Cup and CL. Although my next CL game is Barca, who have just been battering the shit out of everyone. Messi already has 14 goals in the tournament. I think the layout is taking a bit of getting used to and I'm not so sure I like it so far but we'll see. Oh and as per usual the United youngsters are all given the shittiest stats in the world and have sod all potential, which is something I rectified (within reason) in the data editor.

Was much harder when I first started, but I'm doing good now. Got Crawley promoted to the Premiership and after surviving on the last day in my first season, I'm flying now. Just need to put in the effort early doors to get the right balance. You can't get away with just playing and hoping for the best. You need to be more tactically aware.

Did you tweak your 'prior experience' when creating your manager? If you leave that at default, which gives you a lower reputation or something, the players just aren't interested in what you say. Set yourself to an -'ex-international player' and its a lot better. Still beyond that I have difficulties also, some players just dont seem to react with any degree of consistency. Cannot get decent stuff out of Rooney, anyone had any luck with that?
