Me and a mate were discussing yesterday, since Craig has two more outings left as Bond, who might the next Bond actor be? It was fun taking guesses and picking our choices of who we'd like to see take up the mantle so I thought I'd pass the question on here too. I really hope Michael Fassbender is taken into consideration. I think he is the perfect Bond out there, I don't see anybody else come close to him. Even Christian Bale is a good shout. What do you lads think? EDIT : Forgot, but Liam Neeson anybody? Think he'd be too old though by the time DC's tenure ends. But fuck me he'd me a superb Bond. Clive Owen is also a decent pick. Liam Neeson is 60! Couldn't believe it when I heard it.

For some reason i don't think that Idris will make the cut , top actor no doubt and neither will Neeson, liked him A-Team but unless the stories are going to be how bond fights as OAP i am not sure he is the right one.
Between Fassbender and Bale i'd like if it was Fassbender.

Both of those are British (without opening a political can of worms, Republican-leaning posters!). @ karthy - Taken, was that a film about how an OAP fights? Everyone apparently wants Nolan to do a Bond film, so almost inevitably he'll want Christian Bale or Leo DiCaprio to be James Bond. Plus Marion Cotillard as the Bondgirl.

I have never really followed Bond too much... but do the films have a continuity about them? For example... is Roger Moore's "Live and Let Die" related to Pierce Brosnan's "Golden Eye" in story terms?

That's laughable reasoning. The fights were still kickass. Have you seen James Caan? He's 70 and so you'll call him OAP, but he'll still make a fucking badass actor. Clint Eastwood too.

The thing is, Idris Elba already mentioned somewhere that he doesn't want to be the "black Bond". Since Connery isn't the Scottish Bond and Brosnan isn't the Irish Bond. He just doesn't want that tag.
I somehow cannot picture Nolan doing a Bond film. Don't know why. But I'd like to see Kenneth Branagh do one. He'd do well.

Consider me told then I don know much about Idris Elba only seen a few films he's done, good actor especially Takers. I though Neeson was a yank 2bh that's why I said it. Either one would e god then, fuck my previous comment

Was gona say... if the story isn't a continuation, is it plausible to get an Asian bond? Like Takeshi Kaneshiro. He can be the Japanese Foreign Bond. Or John Foo if he has to be from the British Isles. Asian Bond.

Read my previous comment too, don't get your knickers in a twist. I didn't say that Neeson is a Bad actor, i mentioned that i liked him A-Team. Just cos someone is a good actor or does come kick ass stuff doesn't really make them a "Bond". To be read in Context please. The last rocky movie should lead to another with sly acting in it. or another Rambo movie

It may be a great action/thriller, but Bond it is not. Just because the main character is called James Bond doesn't make it a Bond film. The franchise ended with Die Another Day. Nah, don't agree with that. They had to make it more dark and gritty to keep up with the Bourne movies. Daniel Craig plays an excellent Bond plus this film goes a bit more retro with a couple of blasts from the past (which I won't go into) and even humour has been thrown back into it. It is 100% still a Bond film, like the other Daniel Craig ones. Its a bit like saying Batman franchise ended at Batman and Robin. In fact the films run in quite similar parallels, out at similar times and more gritty and realistic tones. I really liked the early Brosnan films, Goldeneye was awesome. By the last one, the invisible cars, the solar deathrays and wind surfing on arctic tidal waves all got far to silly and it ended up a parody of itself. It needed a reboot. Personally I think Craig does a fine Bond, different but fine. Probably more close to the source than others too. Theyve toned down the quips and the suave charm, but he does a much better dispassionate killer. Skyfall is a very good film, a return to Casino Royale form. Bardem makes a very good baddie too. Onto the next Bond topic, Neeson is way to old, DC is down for another 2 films so it could close to a decade by the time 3rd film comes out. Idris Elba is a very good idea, great actor.
