Looks absolutely devastating, apparently it's going to get worse before long.
The satellite imaging following its merger with the cold air streams looks incredible, it's covering such a large area.
Also, completely irrelevant, but could the US election be completely postponed because of this? The scale of everything makes me think that's a certainty, surely you can't have people voting where such large numbers of people are without power or electricity. Really hope things improve up there.

Isn't it just Superstorm Sandy now? Downgraded from Hurricane status I heard.
I don't think a total postponement of the election is such a crazy idea though.

Yeah, it's been downgraded, though for added pzazz I'm keeping it as Hurricane for now.
I literally can't see how people will turn up to vote when such a large portion of the East coast is drenched and without power!

I was just being an asshole for the sake of it. Hurricane sounds good. Well, not good. You know...

It's like 1000 miles wide Hurricanes are defined as the whether it has constant windspeeds of over 75mph. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't want this enormous storm system anywhere near us even if the wind has dropped a bit. they probably should delay the election, it probably be Obama's fault for not holding back the tide soon enough.

Was meant to fly out to NY yesterday but obviously it was cancelled. My aunt's friend was already over there though and is now trapped there on his own.

Refunded. We're going next year now I think. Maybe spring. Problem is I'm already going to NY with a friend for Wrestlemania at the start of April.

Is it just me or does "Sandy" just not have the same end-of-the-world connotations that it should for a "proper" hurricane.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-20128931This really is a wierd hurricane. It is only a category 1 hurricane. Not nearly the strongest. But apparently, it would cover ALL of Europe with its sheer size ! And its getting stronger as it nears the coast , rather than weaken as hurricanes usually do.
