nice. i need me some of that.
it's down the pecking order of new toys for me though.
1) new guitar amp
2) digital SLR. entry level is fine
3) a snowboard, boots + bindings. no more renting
4) xbox 720 or whatever it's gonna be called
5) new PC rig
1,2 and possibly 3 this year. 4 and 5 next year

ski-ing is for arrogant air heads who strut about like they own the place and cut in front of the snowboarders who are going full pelt, making them have to wipe out and hit the deck in order not to smash the ski-er so hard they'll go back in time and wake up to find their clothes are out of fashion!!!!!
i jest, although that happened to me a lot in Avoriaz! i actually preferred the board because i didn't fancy having my legs split on skis and potentially doing the splits! possibly at some point i'll have a go at skiing but i just prefer the board for now. are you a keen skiier then bisto?

I went snowboarding with my ex when we were together. I'm a skier, but she'd never been so wanted us to be at the same level. I thought it was a good idea so we took a few lessons from Snozone and Chill Factore. I was pretty good in the lessons and couldn't wait.
Get to France and on the first run we do it was impossible. the conditions were completely different to the indoor ones we were trained on and I just couldn't get going. Then finally, like a majestic eagle I find the ability to glide down the mountain...
...going full pelt in a straight line. Needless to say I was absolutely shitting myself, and eventually I fell and landed on my wrist. Not broken, but fucking sore. So after one run, where I walked down the mountain in a sulk, I convinced her to swap the board for a pair of skis and taught her how to ski. She was pretty good by the end of the week, if I do say so myself.
I think I will always be a skier, even if I do somehow learn to board, but I have the utmost respect for boarders after that experience.

@ jim - Oh ah. Love skiing, though haven't been in years now. What a depressing though actually, I really am due a run on the slopes somewhere. . . Anyway, yeah, all over skiing.
