The problem with that comes when a club defaults on its mortgage payments. If the bank can't foreclose or force an auction to recoup its investment they're either screwed or not not going to loan money to football clubs in the first place. Granted, that might actually be a good thing though. Having said that, I totally agree with your overall point that football finance is properly messed up! The governing body charged with the best interests of the game really needs to reevaluate itself when it allows stuff like this to go on.

History, tradition, giving youngsters a chance to play football and winning... It’s the biggest club in the world, the best supporters in the world, we have got the best players in the world.
