Though with the win it probably means any hope of getting him for a reasonable price is gone. I don’t think they were ever going to sell him for anything less 50 million anyway. 50mil still a bit steep but really don’t think it’s far off. Was thinking 45ish. This comes down to a matter of opinion I guess. I really rate him, have done since before the pandemic. Think he’s good now and has more levels in him. Which is why I don’t think 50mil is a terrible deal. If you don’t rate him I guess that’s why people think it would be I guess I’ll be in the minority and stick my neck out and say he’ll be a success here and live up to the fee.

I actually like him as a player but I’m not sure if he gets into our first 11. So 50 million is steep for a bench option, particularly for penny pinching owners.

He probably doesn’t get in the first 11 every week but he becomes s quality option. We want Ole to be able to rotate his squad without the quality dipping by much. What works in his favour is he’s pretty versatile. Not just Bruno’s back up but can play across the attack. I think he’d play a lot of football. Particularly when the European schedule gets back to normal. We’ll be rotating much more next season. I do agree it’s steep for these owners but probably the going rate for talented attackers regardless of whether they’re a guaranteed starter. Especially when you counter in the English add-ons. Looking purely at the player, I’d be more than happy if we do end up bringing him in anyway.

Find myself agreeing with Stew.
If we had a great side and squad and only really needed one more addition this summer, an extra bit of invention in the midfield, beef the squad up that little bit more, then going and getting Grealish for 50/60M is fine.
But we need at least 4 other players as well as that back up to Bruno in the playmaking department. We desperately need a quality centre half, we need a long term Matic replacement, a quality option on the right of the attack and could do with an extra option as striker.
Money is tight. Factor in Covid's impact on top of the shit house owners we have and we really aren't going to have that much to spend this summer. And the players we will look to sell aren't likely to bring much in in the way of funds either to be honest.
That could be half our transfer budget just on Grealish in all seriousness. Just an option to sit on the bench and come in now and again so Bruno gets a rest. He can play across the whole of the pitch really, so could get starts out wide too but I'd still like to see a proper actual right winger come in, not someone who can kinda play there and do a job.
We need at least two players who walk straight into this team and improve it first and foremost, one at centre half and one on the right of the attack. If money is left over after those two are in, then we can look at the other areas we need to fix.
It's a mess really.

I like Grealish, as mentioned can play across attack and can play in midfield. I’d be all in at £40 million, maybe £50 million if we can get away with £10 million of Woodward add ins such as world player of the year or goal scorer. the player himself will push for a move, he knows whether they stay up or go down he has to leave and that will certainly impact the price he goes for.

Trying to go out and sign 6 players to bulk up the squad rarely ends well. When clubs do that they normally sign shit or players they don't really know and then struggle to shift them because there sitting on big contracts. Our focus should be restricted to a few areas we know we need to strengthen and leverage the academy as much as possible like Ole has done this season. If we try to fix everything at once it will most likely fail miserably. There is no quick fix for this squad, we won't challenge for the league for a few seasons in my opinion, it should be about building towards that.

My thoughts on Grealish are straightforward. There are better players we could sign for the money we would have to pay to sign him.
We've been here before. And we're still staying we need a top class centre back.

Not happening. We're an accounting firm now, not a football club. As long as the P&L is satisfactory, trophies are an afterthought.

Nobody at the club who can do anything about it actually cares though.

I could understand it if they knocked us off our perch. Unfortunately, we fell off it a long time ago, like a fucking dead parrot.

Getting slagged off by a guy who counts mini Easter eggs and puts it on his Instagram page. Yeah, spot on James, there’s no f******g wankers in Liverpool. 🙄
