Loaning him back might just do the trick and tilt this in our favor if it isn't already a done deal It's likely between us and Arsenal, we're the only two clubs who place emphasis on youth development. If, however, this Powell was Spanish and available for say 20 million the renties and the bitters would have snapped him up already.

Might as well just keep it to yaself from now on so Tatty. Or start a Thread of your own for all your stuff and leave the other threads to get overhyped based on Twatter crap and links to "sports" websites with as much knowledge of Uniteds transfers as Jedward. I'll reiterate that I wasn't taking the piss or saying he was talking BS, I was just asking how reliable his source was because I don't recall any previous predictions. The ones I have seen haven't been accurate so far, so I don't think I was being unreasonable in questioning him. But if, as has been suggested, he's been pretty accurate so far, I'm happy to give more weight to his statements.

We lost out on Ramsey as we were prepared to loan him back to Cardiff, which Cardiff wanted, Arsenal were not prepared to loan him back and Ramsey signed for them for first team Football and the fact that they wanted him more, ignore History at your peril!

Shows how poor our midfield situation is when we're getting this excited over an 18 year old from Crewe.

You make a good point Chris, but there's a reason why a lot of clubs including us have been checking this kid out, if you get my drift.

Now, c'mon Chris, even when things are dire good prospects are still good prospects. The fact that we're excited about a youth signing says alot about the club, we're getting Kagawa in aren't we... Would love this lad to develop into a class act at Utd, still so young so could become a loyal servant in years to come. Let's just hope we get him in!

I like that we are getting youngsters in, but I take it with a pinch of salt since he'll do nothing for our first team right away.

I get that, but I (naively maybe) remain convinced that we're working on the midfield additions this summer and he'd be just an investment, not related to any of our major targets.

Despite reports that United have had a £4m bid accepted, an executive at Crewe said: "There have been no offers made yet. Nick is likely to decide on his future when he returns from holiday. At the moment there are not a big number of clubs interested and, if he does move, it will be about the club rather than money."

Who knows, we might actually find our balls and play some kids next season. We need to change something, why not our policy of letting anyone over 33 into the starting XI? (I say 33 because that is the age I think most players start to properly decline, unlike in Football Manager where a player turns 30 and can get shit in about 3 weeks.)

Talking shit about our Midfield problems ain't gonna rectify it. Besides i don't think any1's excited by the kid's signing simply because he is the answer to our problems( although i hope he is part of the solution).
But any good prospect talent sign is to be welcomed and be glad about , we are sticking to bring in youth and that is good. Besides as Jay says we are looking at getting our mid sorted out. I am though not sure if peeps here expect more than 2 Mids signing ( at the very best) this season as getting them straight into first team can still backfire also.

I like that we are getting youngsters in, but I take it with a pinch of salt since he'll do nothing for our first team right away. That's right. Also some of our fans may have to get rid of the automatic assumption that he's going to be in our squad, i.e another midfielder for next season, that will get his fair share of games. If he joins us, he won't be in the first team , i think we're all in general agreement about that one. Also chances are, he'll probably be going back to Crewe for next season, so we won't be seeing him at Old Trafford. Even if we sign him, it doesn't mean he's another midfielder that we'll use during next season.

I see the "reporters" at the mail are ruining out of rumours to run so they've resorted to the usual nonsense articles consisting of 4 senteces & no quotes. They are saying chelsea are going to be bidding for Powell.

Chelsea ready to hijack United's bid for £6m Crewe ace Powell
Chelsea, who beat Manchester United to sign Eden Hazard, are considering a late bid to snatch another of their targets. Crewe forward Nick Powell, who is close to a £6m Old Trafford deal, has caught the interest of those at Stamford Bridge. Powell scored in in Crewe's League Two play-off final win over Cheltenham on Sunday.

Hope they're reporting with their usual accuracy here, cause chelsea are really starting to p*** me off, for a team who finished 6th they are certainly throwing their weight around thanks to the lucky champions league win.

Chelsea would be the worst place for Powell to go. He ain't ready for the prem yet, so it makes sense to loan him back to Crew.
