Follow Bob on twitter. His ‘Train Guy’ sketch is off the charts brilliant. As is his Phil Jones Netflix show trailer. Yes, that Phil Jones! Train Guy is an adaptation of his Barry Homeowner character from his podcast Athletico Mince. The Phil Jones “Nutflix” trailers started there too. Gone Fishing is the best half hour on telly. Don’t know anything about fishing, but the chemistry between the two of them is just superb. Such a genuine warmth there amidst the stupidity of Bob putting Party Rings over his eyes. I must download that.

The party rings had me roaring! I was in tears at Paul telling him it was some of his best work.

Bob is pure genius.
We get "Would I Lie To You" on the TV early in the mornings over here. Back in Ye Olde Days of Yore (pre Covid) when I actually went into the office, I would occasionally put it on to watch whilst waking up. Any episode with Bob on was brilliant, his stories are off the charts funny.
I grew up on Vic Reeves Big Night Out and onto The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer, before Shooting Stars. Wonderful comedians and shows.

Loosely Mortimer related story.
When I worked in radio, we had a presenter who was infamous for his bullshit. I think he’d worked with some names a long, long time ago (he was a bit “Yewtree”) but loved telling you about his famous “friends”.
One day he started giving it “I’m very close personal friends with Bob Mortimer”. So we called his bluff and said “why don’t you get him in for an interview?”
After “calling” Bob, he confirmed he would indeed be coming in for an interview next month and “Vic will probably tag along too, knowing him”.
So for nearly a month we wondered how he was going to get out of it as he dug himself an ever deepening hole with regards to his “close personal friend Bob”. Finally we reach the day of the interview, everyone’s just waiting to finally call him on his bullshit. The news comes out that Bob’s had a heart attack. Unbelievable. The relief said presenter must have felt as he confirmed that Bob’s wife had called him to apologise and inform him Bob sadly couldn’t make the interview. Lucky fucker. “Ah well, give him our best Clive”.

Watching the England game on Sky. Imagine thinking Alex Scott gets a job just for PC reasons. She’s head and shoulders above everyone in football punditry. She can do it all. Banter, insightful analysis, has her own opinion and yes, easy on the eye. She’s great!

I’ll be gone in the Dark, the true crime drama about the Golden state killer, is absolutely superb. I think it’s better than Making a Murderer. It’s streets ahead of most shows I’ve seen in recent years.

Especially as it was unsolvable, plus potential links to the Mr Cruel crimes in Australia which I don’t think have been explored

It’s streets ahead of most shows I’ve seen in recent years. Finished it last night. Really good. A different take on that style of doc with the focus placed so much on the author as well as the killer. I don’t think it’ll transcend the genre like Making a Murderer did, but that’s not to say that it’s not a better show. Nothing has beaten the Jinx yet for me though.

The Jinx is a great shout actually, very much in a similar style. As a complete aside, was I the only one who thought Tiger King was vastly overrated? Really couldn’t understand the hype. It was fine but not much more.

It was fun getting swept along with it at the time etc, but I would have absolutely no interest in a follow up.
