So much talk about our midfield, thought I was share this.
I'd chop my left nut off to have him at 21 years old again.

In today's market he'd be worth 65 million. At least. Quite simply, he had no weakness, apart from being too brave, which meant he picked up too many injuries. If you could call that a weakness.
Jesus, how we could do with him now.

He was retiring about the time I started supporting United so I didn't grow up knowing that much about him. What I've seen of him now I'd have him above Scholes and Keane. Some of the older guys will have a more educated opinion but he seemed our only star in one of our poorest periods.

A couple of injuries to key players, usually Robbo or Whiteside and we were screwed.

Yeah we did actually have some top players in the 80's, Robson, McGrath, Whiteside, Hughes, McClair, Strachen wasn't top but was still a good wee player. Just couldn't keep them fit (maybe drinking 20 pints a day after training had a little something to do with that for some of them?)
Agree with Stew, Robson would be 60 million plus in today's market. Had everything, literally everything. Still playing at Giggs age as well, and this someone who had shocking injuries in his career.
Stuck with United in the 80's as well, as a host of other top players left their English clubs to go abroad due to the European ban. Another notch on the legendary status for that.

Loved your Robbo film. He was my favourite until Eric. I met him at David O'Leary's benefit match, he was a bit moody and distant obviously quite shy off the pitch. Fergie talks big about him but that drinking problem cant have gone down well which is why I think their relations were strained. We remember all, the strength, bravery and power but it took its toll. There were some games when he looked a lost soul and the last seasons he was a shadow of his former self. I remember when he lifted the trophy all of us were relieved that he finally got his league medal.

You don't even get a 4th choice left back for £1.5M these days Nice to see young Gordon Strachan a few times in there

But Captain Marvel was something special. Give 'Ringo' Ron Atkinson his due he grabbed him from WBA when he took over at United in 1981 leaving WBA for the United job. SAF came aboard after Atkinson got the boot and seen what a gem Robbo was. We can talk about Keane all day when he was Captain but Robson was something special as a United Captain. Still around nowadays after battling cancer.

A player out of the very top drawer...the drive he gave the team was awesome...did the same for England but who cares!! I met him on the Ramblas in Barcelona in 1999 in the afternoon before the CL final...I was a little surprised by how small he was up close...and as someone said, a shy bloke away from the pitch and probably his mates... ...but a true legend of the club...

20/01/2015 10:55, Report by Mark Froggatt Bryan Robson's FA Cup memories Legendary Manchester United captain Bryan Robson is intrinsically linked to the FA Cup, having lifted the famous trophy on three triumphant occasions.
The football icon moved to Old Trafford in October 1981 and while he dreamed of winning league titles, the task of overthrowing Liverpool and Everton proved to be a tall order until the twilight of his playing career. Chasing FA Cup glory was a different story, however, as 'Captain Marvel' led United to memorable victories at Wembley in 1983, 1985 and 1990.
Ahead of this Friday's romantic fourth-round cup tie at Cambridge United, ManUtd.com caught up with Robson to delve into his relationship with the world's oldest domestic cup competition...
How much did the FA Cup mean when you signed for United?
It meant an awful lot to me. One of the reasons I left West Brom to join a club like Manchester United was because I thought I had a better chance of winning a trophy. The FA Cup was the first one that I won back in 1983 when we beat Brighton. It was a fantastic atmosphere that day. It was also great to play at Wembley and to actually win a trophy was brilliant.........................
