its a mistake because he is clearly not a substitute and they are giving us a player who should help us get top 4 - which means next year we can attract the big boys still.... I read an article today which said that the fact that chelsea sold us mata (potentially) shows we're not challengers - but that is a completely short term view. We're not buying mata for the rest of this season only - im sure they have considered the long term effect, No he is a substitute, whether or not he should be is another discussion, but regardless he's not in mourinho plans. Can't imagine any other team willing to get anywhere near our offer. Sure it makes us stronger but gives chelsea a means to improve themselves. This is what the ESPN guys were saying & I must not be smart enough to understand it. Look at the way oppo fans are now freaking out. They were convinced everyone was happy with us failing & unable to buy a player & Mourinho (wants the United job) has stepped in like a good samaritan & helped us stay abaove water. This is nothing but good. |

Good article by Martin Samuel in the Mail (not sure if already mentioned, too many pages to go through all of them looking!), pointing out how it's funny so many people are going on about Mata's defensive frailties suddenly, and how no one had ever mentioned them before Maureen went back there.
